The biggest culprit in the Heat’s fourth quarter offensive woes appears to be Udonis Haslem. He’s played just about two thirds of Miami’s fourth quarter minutes, and they score at a rate of just 100.4 points per 100 possessions when he’s out there. That mark would place 21st in the league over a full season.

Haslem, ugh.

I'd like to know specifically what they do differently in the 2nd half. What kind of plays are they running in the first half vs. the 2nd? I'd suspect the decrease is because Lebron/Wade like to start freelancing and play hero ball later in games.

You also have to take into account the fact that teams are bound to clamp down and play harder on defense later in games. And the fact that the graph looks worse because the Heat's first half efficiency numbers are superb and through the roof. The reality is if they were to continue that first half efficiency for an entire game, they'd have like a .900 win percentage and be the greatest team of all time.

The lineup of Wade-Miller-LeBron-Haslem-Bosh will be run a lot down the stretch. I don't a lot of this is to due with just Haslem, Miller hasn't been healthy a lot this season and Battier and Haslem on the floor is just ugly. But Haslem/Miller with the Big 3 is lethal, or maybe take Haslem out and put LeBron at the 4 and have Chalmers or Battier out there as well.

But Haslems ability to bang down low and rebound is going to be key.

UD isnt able to score in the paint to save his life. his offense keeps me awake at night, it's that bad. Joel looks better then him against the bigs. i really want to see Turiaf play alot, he had a great impact.

Haslem to gets his shots packed in every time in the paint,it's sad to watch. He was never an offensive wiz by any means but he definitely was able to score at a decent rate around the rim, along with his mid range shot which used to be money.Must be age or those injuries(probably a mixture of both)... :(

Haslem always works the boards but offensively he just shoots jumpers and never plays in the post, and it's kinda useless for a team like the Heat filled with jump-shooting role players.
To his defense, since he's been in the league he has never had a real great PG to play with (JWill probably being the best) and we know how important it is for a big.

I'm not surprised it's UD. Joel these days looks like a better scorer.

UD gets his jumper every now and again, and besides some nice dunks, he still gets stripped and UD doesn't get ANY calls when he gets mauled.

He's also our Center sometimes trying to go up against big guys. Yeah right...

One thing for sure, UD upped his rebounding.

But the floor spacing of Bosh, UD, Miller, Wade and LeBron is terrible. I'm starting to see the light of why it doesn't work all the time. It's Big 3 or bust (mostly LBJ/Wade or bust). Miller would pass up if someone is within 5 feet of him. People asking Wade to shoot 3's, and anybody would take an LBJ 3. I don't like Shane nowadays, because he isn't a threat from 3 right now, but him and Haslem on the floor, two glue guys, that might be key right there. Miller is scrappy, but more than likely he'd get injured...

I wouldn't be surprised if Chalmers is in for UD, and Miller or LBJ at the 4. Two 3 point threads, multiple ball handlers, and Chalmers has been a threat lately. We'll see what happens come playoff time. UD has been clutch though lol, in his own way. He's playing harder than ever right now.
