If that was Kobe he would had been crucified for gunning for the scoring title and costing his team the win.

Durant plays the last two meanless games, shot jacks and almost loses both games and no one said anything.

but now its Kobe's turn and everyone is in an uproar.

The fact is. The same people criticizing him now is the same people who don't have a favorable opinion of him.

Geez, isn't NBA basketball essentially entertainment for the fans?

People complain about tanking and players sitting out the end of seasons and garbage games. At least this adds some interest to a game that would otherwise be unwatchable. Kobe has rust from his lay off. He'd play as a matter of normal course for that reason. Yes, he might go for the scoring title. Deal with it. David Robinson went for it. People remember that crazy night for him. It was fun. So would Kobe going for 50 tonight.

In a few years, no one will care about whether he cuold have sat the last game. They will remember a 16 year veteran coming out on the last game of the season and scored ** points to win the scoring crown. That's fun.

And what if, god forbid, he actually shoots an efficient game? What will all the haters have then?

I agree that Kobe should just go out and try and do it for fun. Its a meaningless game...he shouldn't play 40 minutes like Durant did last night. But 30-35 isn't too much to ask. Go out there, give the fans a show and treat it like an exhibition game. Its the Sacramento Kings, its not exactly going to be a tough, physically demanding game. It should be a defenseless cakewalk so I don't see why he can't try.

and i can pretty much predict that if it was another player other than Kobe, the vast majority of people here would be frothing at the mouth for a fun show.

Imagine if say, Iverson and McGrady were tied for scoring on the last game of the season. Man, everybody would be excited to see what they could do to one-up each other!! It would be a big show and fun to watch!

I'm glad he's playing, this trend of sitting your guys the last few games of the season is just bad for the fans. I want to see my team getting primed up for the playoffs, not texting on the bench.

doubt it. they'd feign outrage and hurl insults for 15 pages.

lol@expecting positivity from this place.

i say kobe should go for it. eff it. yeah, it might be selfish and whatnot but at least we'd know he's not gunning just for the sake of gunning. he just wants that scoring title.

This is what I think will probably happen.

The risk of getting injured in a meaningless game just isn't worth it.

The issue is that kobe just isn't a likeable dude. He's not his own unique person, and I think that's what makes people not like him. He tries too hard to be someone he's not.

Yes, pretty much. I'm sure both Kobe and Durant would love that scoring title, and there is nothing really wrong with either of them going for it since they are virtually tied.

If Kobe suits up tonight then I seriously doubt the fans in Sacramento want to see him creating opportunities for a bunch of 3rd stringers. They would probably prefer to see him go for the scoring title and fail miserably.

He might as well gun if he plays. There's really nothing to lose. Heck, maybe he'll even find his 3-point shot. I think it would be cool if he took like 25 3's just to see how many he'd make... lol.

Only Durant could have 61 and 66 TS% games and be accused of chucking.

You can dog on him for going for the title or playing in meaningless games (which he did), but he wasn't chucking. He was still as insanely efficient as he's been all season.
