Heat to open playoffs Saturday regardless of opponent

WASHINGTON — The NBA announced Thursday that the Miami Heat will open the NBA playoffs Saturday at AmericanAirlines Arena, regardless of opponent.
The time of the opener of the best-of-seven opening-round series against the New York Knicks or Philadelphia 76ers has yet to be determined, but likely would be a 3:30 p.m. start.
"Just like this whole season, one day off and then play another game," power forward Udonis Haslem said in advance of Thursday's regular-season finale against the Washington Wizards at the Verizon Center. "We've been doing nothing but playing games anyway, so why should the start of the playoffs be any different?"
And so, quick turnaround it is.
"We would have preferred to have the extra day," forward LeBron James said, "but it is what it is. I do like to prepare a lot longer than one day."
He later added, though, "I've been preparing for this moment for a while."
Of a No. 2 seed and division winner not getting the benefit of the scheduling doubt, guard Dwyane Wade quipped, "My eyebrow raised a little, like The Rock."

But in his home dwelling...the hi-top faded warrior is revered. *Smack!* The sound of his palm blocking the basketball... the sound of thousands rising, roaring... the sound of "get that sugar honey iced tea outta here!"
