Career high's are neat and cool to look at, but you have to analyze the totality of a players career and his impact on the game. Not one frickin game.

15 years of premiere basketball makes him next to MJ....

no biased indivisual awards needed....

I watched with my own eyes both players whole careers.....and know what I saw....

the skillset , work ethic and Mindset for over 15 seasons....

KobeandJordan 2 of the best ever....

Of course Kareem is better than Kobe and he has a debate with MJ.

What's your point?

The point is you have to look at the sum of their work.

I wouldn't say something silly like Odom is a better player than Karl Malone because he's got more rings. Rings are just one thing that helps add to legend status, but it can't be used as the only barometer. Same with points scored, or whatever else.

By what metric does Kobe not deserve to be in the top ten (or any list) of the greatest players ever? He didn't win enough rings? He didn't do well in crunch time? He didn't get enough accolades? He didn't put up great numbers?

Do tell.

Did I miss something? Who is saying that Kobe is better than MJ?

Kareem has 38,300+ points

Karl Malone is second at 36,900+

Jordan finished with 32,200+. (3rd overall)

Where did I say he doesn't deserve to be in the top 10? Absolutely he is.

I was being facetious when I said a better argument would be if he was better than Vince, because that's how big the difference is between Kobe and Jordan. The gap might actually be closer between vince and kobe. People really are underestimating how good Michael was.

It's pretty much Jordan>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>everyone else.

Bottom line, if he's on the floor at tip-off, he's going for it.

Other than that he has absolutely ZERO reason to be on the floor for this game.

Durant had ZERO reason to be on the floor the last 2 games as well.

Kobe actually has more of a reaosn. He missed 7 games and needs to get back into rythym before the playoffs start, its not like he needs more rest. He got almost 2 weeks off.

At this point I want Kobe to do it just to piss RealGM off.

I saw Jordan play back in the day. I know how good he was. But he did not win any of those titles himself. It was not one on five vs the Pistons to get over the hump. He had to wait until Pippen got over his migraines or whatever and man up. The Bulls were a well-coached and well-rounded team with veteran leadership.

He's the best that ever played, but there's not some huge gulf between him and the others that you seem to think there is.

Who cares, let Kobe go for his scoring title if it makes him happy.

The smart thing for him to do would be to rest some more, not risk getting injured, or just play minimal minutes if he really is that out of shape right now. It's hard to see them losing in the first round, but with artest out, you never know, so he might need to be in better shape now that artest is out.

Kobe won't play tonight. Durant gets his third straight title.

He now has more scoring titles in his 5 years than Kobe does in 16 years. (yes kobe is better homers)

Jordan didn't get his third scoring title until he was 25 (Durant is 23), but also his 5th season.

Yeap. I mentioned in another thread that Jordan probably wouldn't have been Jordan if it weren't for Phil, but we won't know.

And you're right about Pippen, but I don't think pip becomes as good as pip becomes without MJ pushing him every step of the way and getting the most out of him. That's what made him so good, he demanded the absolute best out of his teammates.

MJ didn't do it alone, but he was the unquestionable leader of his teams. Bar none. End of story.

With kobe's first 3 championships, Shaq was also pretty much in his prime, and he's arguably the game's most dominant center. Ever. He's the leader of those first 3 championships, not Kobe.

So you've got kobe getting 2 championships as the unquestionable leader. Again, the titles themselves dont say who was better or what, but its one aspect that you look at in the totality of things.

Jordan could have had another 2 or 3 if that's all that was important to him in life, but he wanted to explore himself as a human being so he retired multiple times. His count easily could have been 8 or 9 titles. Kobe lives and breathes getting more titles than MJ, you would NEVER see him leave the game because it's too easy for him.

lol... yeah. Someone posted that in the "Metta Elbow" thread so I can't take any credit for it. Hilarious though.
