If his IQ improves over the summer i wouldnt mind keeping him specifically to fill that roll, hoping that we get a SG to play big minutes in front of him.
Exactly.
And if they can fix his outside shooting mechanic to go along with more mature shot selection, he still has upside. That translates into value. Either hear or in a trade.
but thats the thing. You can say that kinda stuff about anyone. I still dumb enough to say things like that about Dray. The fact is I dont see JC ever toning down his gunner ways and horrible shot selection. Its even harder to do when youve been in the role he's been in for us. If he was riding the bench in Atlanta and then he came to us when we were already a good team, he might couldve fit in. Now his ego is huge.
Its like Dray. Once you score all these 20pt games, then you literally start to think youre the best player on the court and the best guys in the league cant stop you. Its going to be nearly impossible to get him to tone that down now. Even if he did it some, it wouldnt be enough. It wouldnt be to the point where we would need him to. Thats only part of it anyways. The other part is he needs & wants the ball. That would be good if he was playing with Derek Fisher but we all want the ball in Wall's hands. It should be in his hands full time.
The only way I might take it out his hands is is we had a good team 1st, great passing SG like Harden or Iggy but not JC. He can pass some but if he has the ball in his hands, he's going to get too much of an urge to shoot it. Then you add all this to the fact of what kinda team we are. For the 1st time in years, we will have a consistnet inside game. That means if the ball isnt in Walls hands, its going inside to the post. JC just doesnt fit in that mix. We need shooters and guys who can play off the ball
