Re: Kobe needs 38 pt for scoring title
He's serious about a championship...
Imagine he goes for it... Gets injured and then the Lakers get bounced in Round 1.
He'd never forgive himself and he'd never be able to live that up ...
He controlled the impulse this time

Doesn't really matter. None of Durant's scoring titles will be as impressive as the ones Kobe got in 2006 and 2007, nor will he ever be as good as Kobe was in his prime. Win-win.

He now has more scoring titles in his 5 years than Kobe does in 16 years. (yes kobe is better homers)
Iverson has more scoring titles than Kobe too. Kobe wouldnt trade careers with either

Already better than prime Kobe. 28/8/4/50fg%/39%3pt/86ft%/61ts% > Any of Kobe's scoring seasons.

Not really.
35/5/5/2/56% TS/9 TOV%/28+ PER> Anything Durant has done.
32/6/5/2/58% TS/26 PER> Anything Durant has done.
30/7/6/2/26+ PER with All-NBA 1st Team defense> Anything Durant has done.
And Kobe put up his numbers while being one of the best non-PG play-makers ever.
Durant is nowhere near prime Kobe as a passer/play-maker, or defender.
It's not even close.
Purely in terms of scoring, Kobe's 2-yr 05-07 stretch (34 PPG/57% TS/18 50+ point games/45 40+ point games/4 60+ point games) also destroys anything Durant has done.
Durant will never be as good as prime Kobe.
lol Durant stans.

Plus the way durant scores is unimpressive just like dirk. Tall lengky players shooting over small players and running past slower bigger defenders....yawns. Not impressed with james/dirk/durant. Gifted bodies at best.

Doing effective stuff is stupid. Just ask Kebo. Players should be penalized for gifted bodies. That's why AI and Kebo still own.

Kevin Durant's lowest non-rookie TS% is 57.7%. Kobe Bryant has had a TS% higher than that TWICE: 2006-2007 and 2007-2008.
Kevin Durant's lowest non-rookie eFG% of 50.9% is higher than any mark Kobe Bryant has ever reached in his career.
Kevin Durant first recorded a PER of 25+ in his third year as a starter. It took Kobe Bryant until his fifth year as a starter to do the same. Kobe has topped that mark three times in his full career. Kevin Durant has done it twice.
Kevin Durant has career averages of 26.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. Kobe Bryant has career averages of 25.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.7 assists.

Durant is and will always be a more efficient scorer than Kobe, but this post is irrelevant towards Kobe and him caring about the scoring title... I think people overstate Kobe and "chucking". The old Kobe maybe would have played today for the scoring title. But this mature Kobe has his eyes set on the championship (even though the odds are highly against him and his team).

shrug. center's are more efficient scorers in the post than wings. doesn't make them automatically better scorers than wing players. see tyson chandler for example.

Kobe's usage rate of 35.7% in the 2011-2012 season (8th highest in NBA history) is the second highest of his career, only surpassed by his 2005-2006 season of 38.7% (the highest in NBA history). Kobe also averaged 23 FGA per game, the 3rd most in his career, during the 2011-2012 season. He averaged 21.5 FGA per 36 minutes in 2011-2012, which is the 2nd highest of his career.
