"I heard a couple numbers we gotta dispute. Dwane made a little bit of money this year on defensive performance bonuses. I think the secret to next year is putting some offensive performance bonuses into play to make sure we balance out the growth of this team. But he had an impact with a group. They say defence can't be taught. I remember standing here last year and being asked if we have the personnel to play better defence. I said I think so. They're athletes. And I think defence can be taught.

I think Dwane proved that. We did bring in some quality free agents this year that helped us change the atmosphere, change the culture, establish a certain approach to the game and want to thank all of them for helping us get there, whether it was Jamaal Magloire, Rasual Butler, Anthony Carter -- they helped. Two of them aren't here but their jobs were done. As we move forward, I think you're only going to see that improve because now we've got a mindset. We've got a base. It takes a while to get that base established. We only had a brief training camp to establish that. Next year all that's off. You've got a full training camp, a full pre-season schedule, we'll have an 82-game schedule that we can look at a true body of work. The base is in place. The foundation is there for this to be a much better defensive team.

And I can assure you that a player like Jonas will only help that -- IF he's able to stay on the floor, because he will have some difficulty making sure he learns the nuances of not fouling and defending in the post. Every big coming in will have to learn that. And as he gets stronger, he'll have to learn how to utilize that strength. There's a lot of positives there with respect to that."

- "I wouldn't say Ed grabbed my leg but he was there as another solid adviser in the process. It was helpful to have another perspective. It's interesting what you learn from new assistant coaches who come in or new players who come in on the management side of things. Ed's been there at the president level, the GM level. He knows what guys like me are thinking around the league. IT's great to have another set of eyes and ears on everything. I think it's only going to make us better.

This year, I thinkw e were so aligned from Day 1 as to what the plan was. There was the occasional, 'Should we think about something like this? Nah, it's away from the plan.' I had it written on my whiteboard. It's right there, we followed it, we carried it out, and I think we're in good stead."

Do you have to stay patient or is that over?

"I'm rarin' to go. Last night could not have come soon enough. And I think that you know, again now that the short-term pain is over, we've got nothing but positive things to look forward to. Again, regardless of the result of the lottery we're going to get a quality player. We are prepared and we're going to be even more prepared to make the right selection to add to the group and then we're going to need to cut through all those ideas we have with respect to trades, free agent moves, etc. There's going to be a lot of options. There's going to be a lot of decisions that need to be made with looking at all those things we look at."

so the rebuild is officially over, BC just confirmed it. Asked specifically about patience and if that stage is over, says he couldn't wait for this moment and it couldn't come soon enough and is "raring to go"
