Rick Bonnell ‏ @rick_bonnell

Adam Silver confirmed a name change usually takes 24 months. Said a Bobcats-to-Hornets change simpler since rights already NBA property.

i predict charlotte hornets take the floor in october 2013, with official merch available by next summer.

Someone linked this on the Observer board.

It perpetuates the fallacy that that the team name is somehow responsible for Charlotte’s poor play and how changing it back will somehow cure their on the court ills. So it is propaganda in that regard.

That said, I’m definitely in favor of a Hornets return for marketing/atmosphere reasons and the 2012 Bobcats montage at the end is awfully funny (makes me yearn for Lamar’s lolCats video and I almost lost it watchign the Maggette post entry pass to an opponent at 3:26)

Cant wait to be Liiiive at the Hive again:

My family hosted a foreign exchange student back in 1996. He had a Charlotte Hornets shirt. I immediately started talking about the NBA and he had no idea what the hell I was talking about. He said he purchased it because the colors were "cool"

That was 16 years ago, but even today I am sure teal is much "cooler" than orange.

This. But probably wait until the team gets better first.

Why not both?

I doubt the Charlotte Honeybees are anywhere near as hot as they were a decade ago

I'm really disappointed that there weren't any George Zidek highlights in that video. I say we stay the Bobcats then.

If the NBA can cut us a deal, and it sounds like they will, then I think its a no brainer on MJ's part. Just look at the poll on the Observer.

Yes it's an obvious no brainer but I don't mind if we stay the Bobcats, I support Charlotte no matter the name.

I understand QC residents being bitter abouth the whole Shinn/Hornets thing but Charlotte is still lucky enough to have a team(ask Seattle)

MJ's public relations would go through the roof if we became the Hornets again.

That Poll is awesome!!

I'm not really bitter about the Shinn/Hornets deal. The Bobcats name has become a complete joke after this season, and the Hornets got me into basketball in the first place. I was only 8 or 9 when the Hornets moved, but I really did enjoy going to their games. Getting that name back would bring some crazy ass nostalgia even if our roster sucks for awhile.

George Shinn's douchebaggery was only matched by Donald Sterling. I'll take a 1000 Bob Johnson's over him.
