New Ball Park?
Honestly, I hate the Rogers centre and I know Ted Rogers got a nice bargain on it etc, but when do you think it will take before they will need to replace that eye sore?
Would love it if they built something like the park that was supposed to be built in Montreal...

The Skydome was supposed to have costed taxpayers $250M, but it ballooned to closer to $500M. That doesn't help.
Plus it would make the Skydome useless and it might as well be torn down....wasted money.
And I think it's been proven that we need a dome or retractable roof stadium.
No new stadium until somehow attendance picks up and the place gets packed. And that's for sure not happening.

The Dome is going to deteriorate eventually when do you think it will happen? Also, the Dome would be packed again when the Jays start winning... when that will happen? I dunno...

yup, it's not going to happen anytime soon. The only thing that could speed the process up is winning. As it stands now i doubt we'll see a new ballpark for another 15-20 years. If we had a good team that was making money, then maybe it would happen a lot faster.

They changed the surface two years ago to be more like grass. I think they virtually elimated the compliants about the surface.

Its not thaaat bad, its just not super nice. We need to have a dome and the concourse level is nice and the field surface sweet. I think the biggest problem is that there are too many seats. Most of the new stadiums are being built with far less seating. I think the jays will move to get rid of a couple thousand seats maybe by replacing them with bigger ones, or adding more luxury boxes and wine bars etc.

To me, it just doesn't have the "baseball atmosphere".. I guess Boston and NY would be the exterme best case scenarios, whenever I watch a game on TV, it just doesn't have the "feel".. for example, the lights make it too bright, making the game seem way "indoors", even though it technically is indoors with the dome closed..

And thats actually a huge factor. A sell out of 35,000 people would be a much much better atmosphere than even 40,000 ppl with a good 15,000 empty seats. That game last year vs. the Yankees when there was 52,000+ fans was incredible and i barely remember the actual game
