The only losses I take hard are when they are out of our control -- such as any time Joe West is umpiring. A lot of times when a team loses, people will solely put blame on a couple players. The reality is that most of the time, the team has failed as a whole.

I think a lot times people get down because they feel like they wasted 2-3 hours watching the game just to see the Jays lose. I tend to do multitask while watching the game to avoid this feeling. I'll watch a game while making dinner, or even working on a project.

You lose a close game means you should of won, you get blown out means it was bound to happen. You lose a close game you think you are that close to being as good as you need to be you get blown out your like damn we suck. Its hard to make it easy to understand that we cant win every game but you cant help but and think of all these close games that you should of won to hope for a playoff birth!

Dont worry let the bats get going because as it sits are offense is TERRIBLE!

The same way you handle winning 8 gold medals at the Olympics...

I was going to make a post around the 8th inning last night about how I had forgotten just how tense baseball can be. After a season (or whatever you call this year) of pulling for the Raptors to tank, and seeing them succeed for the most part, I'm just not emotionally able to enjoy the playoff-like intensity of last night. It was actually unpleasant, even before Santos' first pitch.

But to answer the question, I just stay away from the boards and focus on other things until the game next day (the great thing about baseball). If the Jays aren't being blown-out from the get go, then I get into it again.

Well, this is it. It's not just on Santos or JPA.

It's still tough to deal with a loss, especially when it's a blow save - but I can always harken back to memories of Joey McLaughlin in 1983 and remember that things did get better in the near future.

I'm glad I didn't see last night's game. I don't think I have that much whiskey to get over that.

As a long-time Toronto sports fan, I have very little expectation that any professional sports team based in Toronto will ever field a legitimate championship contender in my lifetime. At this point, such an event would verge on the surreal. So whenever it seems like we're doing well, then suddenly get swept by the Baltimore Orioles, for example, I simply remind myself that it was foolish to get excited about the team in the first place, and that I should have anticipated the loss(es). Then I go back to my regular life. Typically I won't watch the team again until they embark on another tease of a hot-streak.
