Erik Karlsson of the Ottawa Senators, Zdeno Chara of the Boston Bruins, and Shea Weber of the Nashville Predators have been named the finalists for the Norris Trophy, handed out to the top defenceman in the NHL.

This is Karlsson's for sure, kid had an unreal season.

I am sticking with Weber. Karlsson's season isn't much different than Mike Green in 2008-09 (31-42-73, +24) or 2009-10 (19-57-76, +39) when he was a finalist but didn't win. The voters have shown they simply value defense over offense for the award.

He's also not much different than Keith (14-55-69; +21) in '09-'10, who won it. Add into how much he had to do for a Senators team void of much offense up front, I think it's Karlsson's.
