I wonder what defensive assignment will Kidd have throughout the game. West will defend on Westbrick to start the game, but after that?

My guess is Kidd's main defensive assignment will be on Harden, if he plays.

So pretty much its...

Kidd/West/Roddy vs. Westbrook
VC vs Harden
Marion vs Durant
Dirk vs ibaka/collison
Wood vs Perkins

-PLUS-
Dirk has the edge.
Marion shuts Durant down.
West and Kidd do a good job on Westbrook

-MINUS-
Perkins has the edge.
Hardin has the edge.

Delonte West was hit with stomach flu and puking on Friday night. He might miss Saturday's game. And even if he plays, he won't be 100%.

Shawn Marion guards Durant. Without West, do the Mavs have anybody that can keep Russell Westbrook from scoring 50 points? Anybody at all? (that was a rhetorical question)

The Mavs will have to play Zone all night long, and hope Durant & Westbrook will brick themselves to a loss. Playing man against Westbrook with 2 old men and a baby is suicide.

Finally RC says what I have been saying about defensive matchups: it's the whole team on defense, not just isolated matchups. You're going to get switched on another player than your assigned matchup on screens anyway.

If Harden isn't himself, we'll win.

That guy scares me. He really isn't talked about much, but he has destroyed our bench.

That's why I'm not satying late in the night at 4:30 here to see this game... you know the answer to your concern.

Good game going between Magic/Pacers but I hope it doesn't go to OT. -__-

And sad, sad news about Rose. I predicted the Bulls were going to take out Miami this year, but man..I think it's an easy road to the finals for the Heat now.

Anyways, I don't know if we'll win tonight, but tonight's game will determine if we really are going to compete in this series.

So here's my take on the series. Expecting the worst, hoping for the best. If Dallas loses I won't get shocked or upset, if we manage to win, I'll be estatic and wont even care if we make out out of the second round.

Return to Dallas Mavericks
