Is something going on scheme wise that the Packers are bringing in a ton of undersized interior rushers???

He's not overly undersized for a DE in in this scheme. While he is a bit small, even if he ends up being more of a situational guy in say nickle packages/passing downs, that's fine so long as he's effective at generating pressure.

With the incredible amount of passing in today's NFL, pass defense clearly has to be priority number one for defenses. Thus, even guys who are more of a situational pass rusher than a three down guy can still have significant value so long as they can actually generate pressure in those sub-packages.

Of course though, i'm sure the Packers drafted Daniels with hopes of developing him into more than just a nickle pass rushing end.

Out of all of our picks, I think I am most excited for this guy. He seems like a really unique player.

I dream of the day we have a line with as much talent and depth as the Giants. In terms of a 3-4 obviously since the Giants are 4-3

Yeah, I love this one. Everybody's concerned about his size, but he weighs more than Hargrove with less height. He's just built for quickness and leverage. I don't know that he's much smaller than Kyle Williams, but he's much more athletic.

Was super impressed with his highlights. Explosion off the snap and good power.

The exact same thing happened to Justin Harrel, didn't it?

Harrell had back issues.

Harrell played his final college game against Florida with a shoulder injury, not a back injury.

Torn biceps, IIRC.

He and Hargrove are pretty similar players. Neither holds up against the run real well, but Daniels has the hands and upper body strength to shed if the blocker is off balance.

he didn't really play much until last season, because Iowa's line was being controlled by Clayborn, Klug, and Ballard, the first two guys being among the best defense NFL rookies last year.

but everyone expected Iowa's line to be awful last year, and it was poor to an extent, but Daniels was a strong point. he made the big play when needed and is someone who is always giving that extra effort. he's like so many other former Iowa lineman who may not be the biggest guys but they have a knack of getting past the block and creating pressure. but honestly i never thought size was his weakness. he should be a very solid player.

This guy is going to be an excellent situational interior pass rusher for us. He COULD end up being our most productive rookie next year. I see Worthy taking that crown, but Daniels very well could.

I'm an Iowa fan and alumni. I love Mike Daniels and am very happy is coming to Green Bay.
