What a great game!

I really thought we had it, but that the way it goes sometimes. Either way, I still think we can win the series.

Just a few observations:

--I am surprised Dallas didn't make more adjustments to Westbrook--he was hitting a good percentage of his jumpers from a VERY SPECIFIC part of the court: a couple feet from the foul line, from the right side. Dallas has to force him off that spot.

--Why did Ibaka have such a big offensive game?

--Haywood has to play more than 19 minutes.

As a side note, I cringe when I see Ian come of a pick and roll. I can't say I've seen anyone get so many of his dunk attempts blocked. Who knows what the outcome of the game would have been if he hits one of those shots.

Dirk's just gotta clean up on some of those last minute turnovers and the Mavs should be in good shape to steal game 2.

if the refs call that "offensive foul" on dirk correctly ibaka never even gets the chance to make that 3. i cant stress enough how big a call that was it was a GIGANTIC swing and really one of the worse calls ive ever seen. dirk gets popped in the head and seconds later he somehow gets an offensive foul. i was f*cking steaming on that call. that and the weak f*cking and 1 on dirk when ibaka dunked the ball

Mahinmi is terrible. Shouldn't see the floor. Play Haywood and if you must Wright in last 2 mins to shoot fts.

"it didnt feel good coming off my hands". That's cuz it was a lucky ass prayer you just threw up Durant. The only reason OKC keeps it close with the Mavs is Ibaka, if the Mavs had anything like Chandler still they'd beat the Thunder rather easily again.

haywood needs to get more burn in the 2nd game. as for wright playing more, i figured he'd contribute a lot more than he did today. he was a 0

this loss doesn't determine which team is better. That last shot was a 50/50. This is gonna be a tight series.
ONE thing im really worried about tho is Terry's attitude the next game.
Sure he did really well this game, BUT if he starts chucking and missing, that could be costly. (obviously i hope they go in).

We got robbed again, some of the calls were just too painful to watch. I know it's bad to blame the refs but they just handed it to okc. Dirk's offensive call, carter's offensive call and traveling call, and can you believe ibaka only had 2pfs despite jumping into our bigs on every possession?
I don't think we will win the series, we may outplayed them again but winning games is another story. Proud of our team though they show up and put up a fight.

Don't expect to get too many favors from the refs in this series, especially in their building. The Mavs are gonna have to out execute the thunder consistently in this series, cause they're not gonna be giftwrapped any victories. The good thing is last night they showed that they're capable of that, they just need to cut down on the few mental mistakes that cost them this game

there were a few calls that were reallly suspicious tho. I saw some phantom calls on durant, as well as the offensive call on dirk. AND Especially the on against carter when hardens feet were moving.

Those calls were so easy to make and yet went in OKC's favour.

refs extending the series maybe?

proping up Durant(NBA's new Kobe/Jordan/Iverson)?

I am still trying to figure out why Ibaka had such a huge game, especially offensively. That should not happen.

Dirk is going to have to man up a bit more defensively.

What is Carlisle saving Wood for? We could have used his big body more in the 4th quarter last game. He needs to see more than 19 minutes. Here is how I would play him:

8 minutes first quarter
8 minutes third quarter
8-10 minutes fourth quarter.

For the second quarter, move Dirk or Wright over to Center. I think Wright has to play when Dirk is in the game and only then. Play Wright when OKC GOES SMALL and only then to maximize his shot blocking. Mahinmi can get spot minutes here and there.

Dirk is going to have to play some center. I want to see more post ups from Dirk. When Ibaka gets physical, Dirk needs to start knocking him off and get the attention of the refs. Dirk has to send a message.

Dirk probably should have gotten a couple more calls than he did last game, though.

One of the lasting memories I had of that playoff run was when Dirk did the pump fake, had Ibaka flying and made that crazy shot (game 4?) and when the camera zoomed into that girl's facial expression of shock.

He certainly realizes that OKC is hell bent not to let him do what he did last season. Dirk has to fight back.

OKC knows you like that foul line area and elbow. They played it, and forced you into two critical late game TOs. Post up more Dirk.

Now I feel we get swept. We would have had a blow out win yesterday with Chandler. Mahinmi lost it for us. Big thank you, Cuban and Donnie for messing up a sure contender.

And lol at people that said Chandler is overrated. Where is Dirk's defense. It disappeared with Tyson. I can't stand this Mahinmi scrub anymore. That fool cant finish a **** layup.

Carlisle needs to explain how Mahinmi gets only one second of playing time over Haywood, Janitor, even Wright. Our only hope is that Wright finds his balls somewhere between Dallas and Oklahoma.

Yeah I agree about these.

it's not that i thought the officiating was horrible, but like he said the calls they missed were so damn blatant and just subtle things like that can completely shift the entire game (and it did for the worse)

How has nobody else commented on the lack of touches our leading scorerer in the game, Jet, got when it mattered. Terrible play calling. Everything Mavs did was so ridiculously contended. It was pretty easy to guess where we were going

Westbrook locked down Jet, thats why he barely got touches in the 4th.
