can some one seriously explain the reasoning behind the VC substitutions LATE in the 4th quarter.
he didn't play all of 4th but was subbed in to provide some offense?
I dont get it.

Sadly, VC is better than Marion from an offensive skills standpoint. Marion makes up for that with tenacity, grit, energy, and good BBIQ. Not saying VC is dumb, but his laziness makes him camp out vs cutting to the basket when others penetrate or even relocate himself much when others get doubled/trapped.

No different than what happened in the regular season

Vince Carter was just 5-of-14 from the field but he was wonderful. Carter defended and rebounded about as best as any Maverick player in the game and while that doesn't mean it was always the best defense, the effort was there. Carter was laying bodies on people, boxing out and grabbing seven rebounds. He attacked the rim and made an effort to not settle. He took some silly shots, but considering his effort, that was OK.

I agree with the staements above. ^^ VC had moments where he kept to the 3pt line in the 1st half, but I thought he played solid D. Even the prior possession before Dirk's final two freethrows, he played great post D against Durant which led him to missing the shot. Plus, no one on this team is a hard cutter like a Matt Barnes type, no one really. Marion does well in cutting but his floaters are usually long and don't really have a high percentage. That being said, I thought VC had an okay game.

And to people wondering why Terry didn't get more than 1 shot up in the 4th...credit Westbrook. He did an absolutely huge job at denying Terry the ball, so you got to give him credit for that. But, Jet says he'll be getting more touches in the 4th tomorrow no matter what, so we'll see.

We're now 1-4 against OKC. If not for two prayers by Durant we'd be 3-2. We can't afford to keep it close anymore. Need a dominating victory.

next game is a must win for us.
Ibaka will be dominating the paint again, we will need Jet and Dirk to be 100% in order to have a hope of winning.

Hence Durant missed the game winner with Marion on him.

Oh I forgot that's right Vince is magical and shuts down everyone he guards. To bad he took the regular season off or the Mavs might have had the best record in the western conf.

Marion did great job defensively. He forced Durant to take an awkward shot. We were unlucky, that's all.

Marion's offensive awareness is terrible though

The point is that it's funny to say what you just said considering the fact that Durant just scored the game winner over Marion.

I'm not denying anything Marion did though, that was great defense there, just a lucky shot by Durant.
