The problem, as you stated, is that Robinson is the only one we don't need. If he is the only one left then we need to trade back, and there will be teams chomping at the bit to trade up to get Robinson, so we might get a nice package for it.

The big thing to fear with this scenario is someone moving past us to the top three which would push us to seven. That puts us in the next tier of prospects, which would be unfortunate

I can see Barnes being picked in the Top 6, but I think it would be the wrong thing to do except maybe if you're Sacramento (as they could definitely use a SF). IMO there's a big 5 (Davis, MKG, Beal, Drummond, Robinson). Then after that there's the group of Henson, Barnes, Sullinger as well as maybe Lamb and Perry Jones III.

I also doubt that out of the guys you named Robinson would be the one to drop out of the top5. Sacramento could definitely use a PF next to Cousins and I think that's where he'll end up. New Orleans would take either him or Drummond if MKG and Beal go at 2 and 3.

And if my big 5 got drafted from 1-5 and I had to choose between Barnes, Sullinger and Henson, I would take Henson in almost any scenario.
If Robinson falls out of the top5 you obviously trade down.

Why do you like Henson?

I've cooled on him, I mean, I wouldn't take him in the lottery. It's just he isn't a center and he isn't tough. At least Sullinger and Robinson are big and know how to use their bodies. I just don't see him being a good fit with either Aldridge or Hickson, or an improvement on either.

He might be a decent fit with a player like Lopez or Bargnani. A high post center that allows him to be a help defender and shot blocker, while not impacting the spacing and not having to defend NBA sized centers. However, it will be hard to build a championship quality front-court with him, so most likely he is a career back-up (on a good team).

Not sure on DJ Augustin.

And Lin maximun is 5M, I can see a team offering something like that to Felton.

He can end up in Dallas (if they don't grab DWill), New Jersey (If they lose DWill), New York, Orlando, Phoenix, Sacramento, Toronto, Utah, one of those.

Rookies I'd love to see a Blazer next season

1. Anthony Davis
2. Andre Drummond
3. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
4. Jared Sullinger
5. Bradley Beal
6. Kendall Marshall
7. Thomas Robinson
8. Jeremy Lamb
9. Damian Lillard
10. Terrence Jones

But that's just me.
Dammit...:

Of the realistic scenarios (obviously Davis would be most wanted) I'm all about Drummond. We've got to swing for the fences if we're going to get back to being a quality team and Drummond's got the physical tools to be something really special. Of course he could be a big bust but I at least like the idea of thinking big

Don't know if this has been posted, but Sacramento won the tie breaker with the Nets, so Nets will have 6th pick or worse assuming they don't win a top 3 pick in the lottery.

It really would have helped if they would have won that coin flip. That #5 would have made having a shot at Drummond a little more possible. Outside of him slipping in the workouts, the Blazers will have to find a way to move up to grab him.

I would not expend much assets to get a question mark like Drummond.

If he falls to us, that would be fine but I'd rather we simply pick the BPA for
I would be okay if we simply drafted any of the UNC players (Barnes, Zeller,
Henson and Marshall).

5th pick, 6th pick, who cares. We traded Wallace who was going to opt out anyways. There's no way I could complain (unless we took Wroten at 11 lol)

Any player we pick is just icing on the cake since its pretty much free. With that being said, if the Nets win the lottery I'm going to break my computer tommorow

With Sacramento Picking at 5 and the Maloofs hurting (+ having a lot of bigs and Jason Thompson is a RFA) the Blazer could spend their $3M and swap picks. Sacto would also save on the lower pick salary (and may have a nice target at 11 (Henson type). I do like the Drummond / Marshall combo, but there are a lot of outstanding options in this draft.

We've long talked about the risks with picking Drummond, but Marshall has some significant question marks as well.

As I've said before, Marshall might very well be the best PG in the draft (although I'm starting to like Teague, I think he has NBA tools), but he isn't a sure thing and he almost certainly isn't an allstar caliber.

Picking Drummond and Marshall could go very well... or it could go very wrong. Big risk picking the both of them.

You're not drafting Kendall Marshall to be a perennial all star. You draft him to resemble a post-microfracture surgery Jason Kidd. You draft him to run a very efficient offense and make all your other players better.

Drummond is such an interesting guy. All the tools and potential, but also a great chance to simply not want it enough. But I kinda want him if we don't win the lottery.

That's why I said I like him. I am a big fan of pure point guards. Always liked Kidd. Big fan of Rubio right now (which I was not expecting, but seeing the kid play sold me).

But that doesn't mean there aren't question marks surrounding him, and it would be foolish to pretend there are not. It isn't guaranteed that his game will translate to the NBA. Look at similar college players, many of them didn't pan out in the NBA. Now, Marshall was playing with a couple potential 1st round picks, so he didn't have to score for that team and could play pure point, but he still has question marks regarding his NBA ability.

Have you lost your mind?

Ths team needs TOP SHELF TALENT....not run of the milll maybe he is\maybe he isnt a starting caliber PG....

Unbelievable, you would have POR reach for a guard who best case scenario you would compare to a poor man's Jason Kidd...a mid level PG, insetad of going after a player who could develop into a #1, #2 or #3 type of player....

I got news for you, adding Kendall Marshall isn't suddenly going to make Wesley Matthews the equivalent of James Harden or Chris Bosh like impact, and he isn't going to suddenly going to make Nic Batum a Dwayne Wade or Russell Westbrook level of impact player, not LA a Durant\LeBron #1 type guy.....

I mean come on now, you are living in fantasyland....

You don't go into a draft that is loaded with top shelf talent, and this draft is, and then go skip all those type of players to pick the most pedestrian of players (Marshall) b\c he fits a need? That is a recipe for FAILURE....

This team needs TOP SHELF TALENT, and I got news for all of you homers, they likely are NOT going to get it through free agency....unless they can somehow get Deron Williams a longshot at best....and trading for one means likely overpaying (both picks + young player, + bad contract) for a player a team is more than happy to castoff (Tyreke Evans), make you wonder why?

The BEST way to get top tier talent is through the draft and POR will be sitting with likely 2 chances in the first 11 picks to get 1 or 2 of those players....they should be swinging for the fences...THAT is what you pay your scouts and GM for, to correctly identify talent...to date they have not been able to do that, it is my sincere hope that they either brng someone in capable of doing that or Chad pulls his head out of his ass, reviews all his failures, changes his philosophy and makes the right **** call for once in his life...

POR is going to address PG through FA...they are likely going to swing for the fences for D-Will and likely whiff, and then they will go after and more likely sign a guy like Dragic or Aaron Brooks...

That is reality, can we please try and live in that world on this board....just a little? I assure you that is the world that POR mgmt finds themselves in...

Sure, there are question marks surrounding him. I'll agree to that. But there are question marks surrounding anyone you draft. Even sure things like Anthony Davis..there is no guarantee he won't be the next Oden.

You mentioned similar college players that didn't pan out. Did you have any in mind? I don't see any that put up the type of numbers Marshall did and were drafted in the 1st round that didn't go on to have respectable careers. The only three I see that fall under those qualifiers are Mark Jackson, Avery Johnson, and Jason Kidd.

Blaze01, you are by far one of the most detached from reality posters on this board. Take some deep breaths, watch some college basketball, and realize that there are no TOP SHELF TALENT!! players in this draft other than Anthony Davis. You can SWING FOR THE FENCES all you want but it's not going to make the players in this draft number one options.

uh wrong....There is a reason why draft picks in this draft are hard to get from teams...a reason why teams\scouts have been pinpointing this draft for awhile now....because there is a lot of talent...

There may not be a Derrick Rose or Lebron James....but there are a lot of James Harden\Chris Bosh types of talent....

Rose and Lebron are generational type players...some scouts speculate that Anthony Davis could be that type of player, I do not think that is the case....but guys like MKG, Barnes, Beal, Rivers, Lamb, Sullinger, P.Jones and a few other players could easily develop into multiple all star caliber players during thier careers....THOSE are the types of players POR needs to be chasing in this draft....

So no, not detached, far from it....

Watched plenty of college basketball and it was not hard to see that....

I'm not sold on Marshall. Sure he is the best passer and assists guy in the draft, but do the Blazers need another Andre Miller, someone who is a step below athletically and a bit of a liabilty on defence? I really don't know to be honest.

Lillard is a better athlete and scorer even though he's far from a pure pointguard. But with the likes of Jeff Teague and Jeremy Lin the NBA seems to be moving in that direction with alot of the young pointguards the past two or three years. Speed, and the mindset of taking the scoring on their shoulders when the shotclock winds down rather than just getting rid of the ball is a huge asset.

All the star pointguards of the past few drafts have been that prototype, from Rose to Westbrook to Wall and Irving. And if Tony Parker can play the role of the dominant scorer on his team and still get all his teamates involved(just look at most Spurs boxscores to see how the stats are shared around) then that's the style that I think is going to be the trend for a number of years. If the Blazers just want a good ball control guy that is a very good passer they may as well just trade for Luke Ridnour. Even Goran Dragic, who most everyone on your boards likes is a score first pointguard.

Just my opinion. I'm not saying Marshall isn't worth considering, I just wouldn't assume he's the one to slot in for your teams pick.

But my other opinion is if I knew that Freshman Tony Wroten could develop his jumpshot he could be a steal for some team the same way Iman Shumpert was for the Knicks. He has size and is dynamic along with being a good passer and seeing the floor well. And even though he's more of a combo guard he is still a freshman with alot of upside and if he could be had with a lower pick it might be worth taking a chance to develop him into something.
