especially when the picture that reps the video on his petition is Lebron. Especially when this whole flop thing lately has been driven by JVG and two calls with Miami (James Jones and Lebron), both of which had legitimate contact creating fouls, but may have been exaggerated to get the call. These are not the types of egregious flops that everyone hates, and are the ones all NBA teams do (though since everyone hates Lebron, feigning outrage is common).

I hate people who know they are biased, and try to convince everyone they are not.

There's a certain hilarity to a Bulls fan wanting the refs to call it straight, after Michael Jordan basically invented the superstar call.

I don't think flopping is actually a huge part of the game. I watch soccer as well, and it's much more of a problem there because it stops the flow of the game. In basketball, there's no mechanism for stopping play because a player is pretending to be hurt, so it's not really that disruptive beyond the level of trying to induce a call which is decided on right at that moment. Usually most flopping involves real contact, but fans feel(usually of the losing team) that the contact is being exaggerated.

I think on the list of things to be fixed in the NBA it's pretty low.

One thing I would like to see is after games if refs were allowed to talk to the media and explain certain calls and what they saw on the play. I think that sort of communication or being able to just say straight up "hey I'm human I missed the call, I'll try to do better next time" would go a long way to deflating the conspiracy theories.

So transparency is a bigger issue to me than any one rule or another.

The other night a lot of people are calling Lebron's reaction to getting hit by Chandler a flop. But it's not like Chandler didn't hit him in the back near the neck, intentionally as a cheap shot. Lebron wasn't creating a foul where there was no contact. So I think the definition of flopping should be refined. Is it exagerrating contact, or is it pretending there is contact where there is none? It all seems very subjective to whatever team you're rooting for.

Also a lot of fans mistake drawing charges with flopping. That's just good old fashioned beating the man to the spot. I would hate to see that removed from the game, because it is an art, and it requires one to sacrifice your body for your team. Saying I value possession so much that I'm willing to take a shot right in the square of the chest for my teammates. That's kind of cool.

As a Bulls fan trying to find things to do with myself besides suicide, I decided to start a Change.org petition against flopping in the NBA.

So let me get this straight...

Rose went down with an injury and you are so distraught that you are going on a personal crusade in order to distract yourself from killing yourself?

You have reached this human low over a game (and the happenings of its players). Pardon me for being frank, but that is absurd.

Flopping is the least of your worries (please seek help).

Meh.... I'd hate for the replays and delays they would do because of flopping unless the review games after. This isn't football or baseball when the game is slow and in spurts (I know basketball CAN be between elite vs elite teams, not really).

You can't stop games to review for flops. Literally every play would require it.

The only way Cliff Levingston can think of for trying to at least cut down on the ridiculous flops is to review the game after the fact and assess technical fouls while still keeping the 16 tech rule in place. Guys will stop committing egregious acts of floppery if they know it could possibly cause them to miss games down the line.

The smaller flops like flailing arms after getting the ball knocked away or the Paul Pierce/LeBron James head snap on even the lightest contact on the perimeter is almost impossible to get rid of if the refs are going to continue to call it. Ultimately, the solution to flopping lies in the refs' ability to actually notice it. Problem is, with the action moving as fast as it is, that's almost impossible, and that's why guys do it.
