The Lakers have Ebanks bird rights since he's only played for LA in his career also im not sure about this but several times this season when talking about Ebanks the LA Times has said he is a restricted FA in the summer. if he is restricted the Lakers should give him a qualifying offer.

Cool thanks. Hopefully we could keep him for cheap. He has a pretty good form on his jumpshot and he should only keep getting better.

jthe lakers will have ebanks' early bird rights, not full bird rights. that means they'll be able to sign him for up to 5mil starting salary. he needs 3 yrs in the league under the same contract to be a full bird rights candidate.

as far as being a restricted free agent, the lakers will have to offer him the qualifying offer for that to kick in, and for ebanks the QO is a little over 1mil. im sure they'll offer it and it'll ebanks best interest to sign that QO and then go into the following offseason with full bird rights since he'd have 3 yrs under his belt.

Perhaps with Hill's emergence we bring him back to be the backup PF. If we don't bring back Barnes or if the Lakers decide to amnesty MWP then going after Beasely to as the backup SF would make me more than happy. He would be one hell of a scoring punch off the bench.

I have to agree with Semi about making a push for Nash. If you have an opportunity to get Steve Nash you push hard for him. You have to think that the Kobe and the Lakers have thought about trying to sway Nash to LA.

Nash would have been a good move 2-3 years ago. Nash about to be 40 almost. He's had some injuries that have hindered his game even though he had some good stats this year. The Lakers need to look to get younger. Why sign a player almost 40 and he breaks down or comes back next year with lower production and now you compete? Nash also plays with a heavy running transition PnR team with outside shooters. This is something that is completely opposite of the Lakers. So forget Nash. Use that money to sign Sessions and if you cant get him go after options but you dont lock up funds in a player when you can get younger pieces going forward.

Why do people still want Nash we have Sessions the bench should be the target off all the Lakers moves this summer. I think Hill if this legal stuff isn't to serious should be resigned and Ebanks also. Barnes is an interesting case if the Lakers decide to amnesty Artest I can see them me resigning Barnes and having him be the starter and getting a guy like Beasley to come off the bench behind him but i can also see the Lakers keeping both Artest and Barnes and even Ebanks and having Ebanks play SG and I can see the Lakers keeping Artest and letting Barnes walk and getting someone like Beasley to come off the bench so its really wide open to what will happen at SF for the Lakers this summer.

Why on earth would they resign Ebanks and Barnes only to sign Beasley to bring him off the bench? Makes no sense. Plus Beasley is a capable starter and is far better than both of those guys. He could be the 2nd star that they need to pair with Bynum if/when Kobe starts to really decline.

If they can get Beasley then they should rid themselves of Ebanks or Barnes. One of them has to go. Id prefer to keep Ebanks b/c he is younger and could turn into a quality role player. Barnes is getting older and at some point you have to groom the new guys to keep going. Its funny how alot of my fellow Laker fans want mgmt to make good quality moves but want to hold on to players and not experiement with new guys that may do us some good. Barnes is an ok player but he isnt a cornerstone for a ring or the future.

Ebanks can play SG thats why I would keep him if I was the Lakers and he would be cheaper than going out into the market and signing another SG for 1m+.

Ebanks has been used at SG but he is not a SG...no team would ever sign him to play SG as his main position. Ebanks is nothing special. He's had a few decent games on the strength of the team playing well but one good game at OKC and now people think he is a special talent. If they can get Beasley they should resign Ebanks or Barnes and let the other walk. They still have Eyenga on the roster too.
