welp... he can be like Rondo I guess before this year. He's still good at creating shots for teammates, very fast penetration.

but holy crap that's bad...

he had a run in February when his mid range game was on point...not sure why it died out, it looked like he turned the corner in that regards, but I guess not...We really need to get him a shooting coach, he always releases the ball on the way down, he doesn't have a very smooth release :/ That being said I don't think he is a lost cause, and he will never be a 24ppg + guard, I'd be content if he could reach 18-10 on efficient shooting.

As to the three point shooting woes...gawd dayum.

Irving > Wall
Looking for a new signature. Currently, still evaluating.

I'm beginning to wonder if he's even really improved since high school. He's added nothing major to his game, his weaknesses then are still major weaknesses now and at best he's made marginal improvements in areas that were already strengths.

Between him and Tyreke Evans, what on earth is Calipari teaching his guards? He recruits uber-talented guys and lets them run loose on the NCAA, but doesn't show them how to play basketball and it hurts them in the long run.

Rose won an MVP, Brandon Knight is getting better

At some point, you have to point and look at the individual

No. Cal has nothing to do with it. There are guys he's had who have come into the league and done extremely well. He's probably the best coach to play for in the NCAA if you want your NBA stock to rise.

I remember when people would say they would take Wall over Westbrook. Good times.

Rose and Westbrook had similar weaknesses, and both have improved steadily through off season hard work. They both got a decent mid range game first to loosen things up and have both started to hit the 3 at a decent clip. The best example perhaps though is Tony Parker, who still doesn't have much of a 3, BUT he's deadly mid range and also just understands the game so much better, uses his speed and athleticism better and makes great decisions with the ball. He should take notes watching Parker and develop his jumper slowly and steadily.

Part of it is that its easier to work on what you are good at than what you are bad at.

Russell and Rose put it in the hard work, and now Wall is maybe realizing he has to. Though he also has longer to go. Rose actually had a decent mid-range coming in, quite in contrast to some of the thoughts about him.

If anything it has regressed as he's tried to incorporate the three and he needs to get back to it.

I don't think Westbrook is that great a shooter still, but he gets such good elevation on his pull up J, that it is very hard to contest.

Somehow, some way .... Evans is actually better. According to 82games he shot just under 31% for all jumpers this year.

His shooting mechanics were dreadful and inconstant. Sometimes he was realeasing his shot on the way down. But it's not like he was shooting his team out of games; he only averaged 13 fga per game.

It does seem like trying to develop a 3 point shot is a mistake for some players *cough*Wade*cough*.

Not a big deal IMO.

He is a pure point guard and one of the best in today's game at finding his teammates. He is good enough to score in double figures with ease because of his athleticism, he's a slasher and an open floor nightmare. Wall having a piss poor jump shot (which he can work on) is not a big deal. Just get him shooters and he'll find them.

Don't ever put "Wall" and "pure point guard" in the same sentence
