 Absolutely not. Amare is all the things everyone else said about him. He was not a great addition to the Knicks as part of their "foundation". He and Melo are very similar players in their need to have the ball and dominate touches while adding little defensively.

Kobe said it best in an interview yesterday (on why the Lakers can win the title): "To win a championship you have to have defense and rebounding".

We need to build this team up with those elements, while adding scorers that aren't defensive liabilities. Davis fits perfectly.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Amare should be untradeable but you never know in this league. And I don't wight in his hand injury, it was my opinion even before. I doubt his team can get a good insurance on him making him effectively a an expensive ticking bomb.

We are in rebuild mold. The very nature of the idea disqualifies 30 year old Amare? We are hoping to draft 19 year old Captain Unibrow? The more realistic question is would we trade for Carmelo who the Knicks probably have less interest in trading.

This thread title is embarrassing. Fans of other teams might pass through our board and think that we actually want him.

Amare would make sense for a team like Atlanta or Orlando. For us? No.

That's the kind of deal you make once you have several quality pieces. We have no quality pieces.

If NYK just want to dump him, I could see Brooklyn trading for him. They have the cap space to take him on.

Yeah because we both know that Tyrus and Maggette are such great defenders....

I think the Knicks would have to be desperate to dump him on the crosstown rivals.

I will say that if the trade expands to something like this, then you have to thrown in the Hammers on here to:

This is particularly true if you get the chicken and rice stand.

It could be hard for the Bobcats to acquire big name free agents, so they might have to settle for a guy like Stoudemire.

If we're willing to trade you Amar'e, then you probably don't want him.

We would rather take our chances with trades and the draft. Thanks.

Amar'e's main problem is the ball-dominant forward next to him. There's no Carmelo in Charlotte. Amar'e should leave NY, but I'm not sure Charlotte is the place. Having a pass-first point guard is something he apparently needs, as shown by all his great years in Phoenix.

If it appears that no one wants to sign with us, I wouldn't mind trading for Amar'e if the price is low, but I doubt the Knicks would settle for Maggette + Kemba unless they're desperate to get under the cap or something.

My point was that the Knicks would only settle for Maggette + Kemba if Amar'e were no longer capable of being the superstar you thought you were trading for.
