I wasn't talking about rugby club teams. No one who plays rugby watches that rubbish, we just care about the national teams, and sevens(the backs especially).

EDIT: The only rugby union that matters is National teams. (and that is the truth dude, hate to break it to you -club rugby is a very small market, like you have to work at the post office just to play it)

EDIT2: As for my basketball knowledge, it is what it is, take it or leave it, I am just an observer like you, maybe I see things you don't maybe you see things I don't... your opinion means jack to me, it realy does, and we can both pause and laugh about how jack is spelled with the lowercase.

He blocked Kirilenko, Noah, M. Gasol and plenty of other stars this summer, but that doesn't mean he'll come up and play well against NBA stars every day. He's still a kid, remeber? He played better last time against CSKA. Get used to that, he will need at least few years to become consistent and polished player. As for his transition time - it will depend with the guys he'll play with also. He would be better in this CSKA team, he's better in NT as well were he plays with player that CAN PASS. Not a single guard in Rytas can pass. Another thing, he seems to be down physically and mentally lately and it's not JV that comes with full energy. Samardziski played his best game of the season and man oh man it was so few games like this...

Well after I defended JV a little bit, I have to say he played very bad tonight and he will have such games in NBA as well, so be patient as he will need time to get bigger, more experienced and polished. Don't expect too much in the first year. However, he'll be a different player in NT and I'm so sick and tired to follow that f... Džikič's basketball, but I have no choice.

And yes I can blame Rytas coaching staff for JV not knowing what to do with the ball when he's 3 meters from the basket. He needs to be agrressive in these situations, to go right or even left (yes he can do that, but has no confidence in that). Look at 2:06 in this video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCMXxQGhGzQ

With his soft touch he should be really more involved in Rytas offence and I'm thinking that all season long. Maybe he learned few things from DŽikič this season, but he forgot about some skills he has and that we saw this summer (including Eurobasket). Another than that - it's school, he needs time.

Even in your example we can clearly see that didnt look comfortable finishing that shot and, eventually, shot with his right (or both) hands. And this was in U19's, so almost a year ago, and yet to this day he hasnt even shown flashes of using (or at least developing his left hand). Hell, even the "scrub" Samardzinski is capable of sometimes scoring with his left.

And about the spinning over his right shoulder:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPLMdhk5o7Q&feature=plcp (0:56 sec)

Here he gets the ball in the low post, spins through his right shoulder towards the basket and finishes successfully with his right hand. Bet there are many situations when a semi-hook with his left hand would have allowed to make an easier shot. Another example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRzjhOHlxtY (1:07:35)

JV gets the ball close to the post, successfully drives closer to the hoop, successfully pump fakes Koufos, and all that remains is to use his left hand to finish with a layup or dunk, but JV once again prefers his right hand (which is closer to the guarding man, Koufos, and makes it easier to contest the shot) and gets blocked by Koufos.

Wow what a disscusion. Its funny that guy who don't know nothing about european basketball argues how good it is. Bobcats would easily lose playoffs series against CSKA. Look at bobcats starting five lol.... CSKA frontcourt with Kristic, Kirilenko, Lavrinovic, Kaun would kill Bobcats.
Btw European teams practise two times per days instead one like in NBA and they still have over 60 game to play not to mention majority of good players plays all sumer for their national teams which increase their games per year to 80 zone....

Just ignore from24ft and his posts. His statements in this thread are clearly for trolling purposes as he knows nothing about the European basketball and football. It's just best we don't give him attention in order to stop the derailment of this thread.

It's okay, all Europeans are welcome, we love teaching basketball over here. You guys have to learn the game eventually.

Well, aren't you a smartass. BTW, I'd bet both of my nuts that CSKA would take the Bobcats down in 4.

Mods, whatever happened to the "blocking" feature in this forum solution? That was a much appreciated function in years past. I used to block annoying thread contributors with impunity. Just add that back onto the wish list if you please.

You still can. Click on a user's name and then click "Add Foe". You'll still see that they posted in a thread, but it'll be hidden unless you choose to see that individual post. I am very familiar with this process.

from24 i guess you're going to far.. at first you got some clear statements, but about the advertisings, thats very common around the world, not only in basketball or soccer, but in all sports (sponsors).. i can agree with you that Euro teams would struggle in the NBA, but not in the second part, about the advertisings..

Good examples. Actually I've seen Jonas finsihing with his left a lay up, but that was LKL game and that was really easy lay up. Also saw him trying to do that in trainings so I think it's pretty much the same as with jumshot - he can develop that and works at it, but still not polished thing. He just sticks to that strong move to the right and finishing witg right. There's no problem if he's posting up in the left side of offensive court - he can go right for a luy up or hook or he can spin and finish the way he did in your example. BUT, the probem is when he gets the ball in the right side and than usually he tries to pump fake and to go right, other than that he doesn't know what to do. So for him it's a must to learn to penetrate to left and to strat using his left hand. On other hand, as long as he will have someone to play pick and rolls with (Calderon) his offence will be OK and he will grab some of offensive rebounds, tip ins. I still think he'll be pretty OK in the first NBA season with better passers that Raptors has, but he will have some out days like last night against CSKA. And yes, he's tired. We know NBA is even harder at this point, but Jonas still going against way bigger players and played a lot when Samardzistki was injured.

Important thing guys - to be patient in the very first season in NBA. I don't think Jonas needs 3 years - I think it's something like 1,5 - 2.0 for optimally bulking up.
