I'm not a hockey guy, but I don't think teams get points for hitting the post. ;)

Wow. All's fair -- in the last game we hit the post four times, so I'm not apologizing.

They're hitting the post because Holtby is playing so aggressively in leaving the pipes. He's cutting off the angles from the shot and only giving up narrow creases by the posts. Makes me nervous as hell that he leaves the net so far, makes him vulnerable to a rebound goal but hey, can't argue with results, and clearly the kid is unfazed and unafraid of the moment. Of course I'm wreck by the end of the game, but it adds to the drama anyway. Fun if you win.

Double OT. Wow... 7th OT period of the playoffs for the caps.

This is killing me.

Oddly enough, despite the low score and multiple OT periods, neither team is having problems getting tons of shots on goal and some absolutely incredible opportunities. But the goalies are in another world right now.

Also, Brouwer is stinking up the joint. Fumbled passes, blown game winner....ugh.

Caps lose... kinda had that feeling they weren't winning. Lots of good looks but none went in.

I wish they could really take advantage of home ice. Its tough to get those Game 5s and 7s on the road

Yeah, but home ice doesn't seem to mean as much as homecourt does in basketball or homefield in football. In fact through the 1st round, I'm pretty sure the away team had a better winning percentage than the home team.

I am not a hockey expert, but it seems that the Caps let the Rangers play in their end for two long. The Caps seem to get good looks when they did get shots, but it seemed they didn't keep it in the Rangers end very long, and had trouble getting out the puck down the ice.

Caps had two excellent chances to end the game, one Brouwer pushed wide and the other chance Ovie banged off the post. Given how few and far between the scoring chances were I knew at that point it was just a matter of time before the Rangers got a similar chance and ended it.

In the 1st and 2nd OT, the caps seemed to have the momentum... but watching the 3rd was brutal. They looked absolutely exhausted and you could feel the game just hanging by a thread. That was tough to watch..

What a game, sucks to lose though. Ovie should have buried that one chance he had. Oh well, on to Game 4. I said we'd win in 6 and I'm sticking with it...unless we lose on Saturday. :\

I went to the game... Here I am at home two nights later and I'm still worn out.

Ovie hit the post on his chance... It was Brouwer who really flubbed what should have been the game winner off a great feed from Hendricks. Matty was great all night... I've rarely seen anyone lay the wood like he did.... And he was skating.

Carlson was a beast as well.

I do wish Ted would turn down the volume. I mean there is loud, then there is Caps sound system loud. As a fan, it wears you out trying to cheer/scream over the incessant, screaming music.

Well, here we go. We lose this, it's basically the series.

But we can't lose 2 at home, right?

It's just impossible for us to go up by 2 isn't it....

We've only been up 2 once in these playoffs and even that was quickly answered with 2 straight goals by the Bruins in a span of about 3 minutes.

Huge win, Green with the (eventual) game-winner!

Now we need to steal the next game in New York.

An absolutely amazing sequence. Didn't know Nicky could lay someone out like that. Just brilliant.

Not to de-rail the thread too much, but how about the Kings. An 8th seed getting to the conference finals in 9 games, wow!

I don't follow hockey much, did they have major injuries or add key players late in the season?
