Good news for Ryan, with his clutch shooting last night in the 4th, he upped his career postseason average to 4.1pts

18 games, 18.6min

4.1pts, 4.0reb, 0.4ast, .296%-.306% shooting

That's probably an extra $50,000 on his upcoming contract offer. You could buy a lot with that, you know.

The thing with Anderson is, he's still young, and he's obviously shown huge growth this season.

Again, I think it's safe to say most of us want to continue seeing him in a Magic uniform, but only if the price is right. We're just sick of seeing high-paid jumpshooters underperform when it matters most.

Is it just me who doesn't see this "huge growth" people talking about? His numbers are better, yes, but he also played 10 minutes more than last year. Does his per 36 numbers increased all that much?

Also, Ryan is an offensive player, putting up stats is the only thing he can do. The only thing that I'm impressed is his ability to grab offensive rebounds, which he shown he can do against good teams also.

Well, however you want to put it, he definitely had a 'breakout' type of season. He became a starter for a playoff team, averaged about 16ppg/8reb, and led the league in 3-pointers. Obviously, he still has work cut out for him if he wants to take his game to the next level (and if he wants to be worth the amount of money he might be seeking). But, he definitely resembled Magic-era Rashard Lewis for long stretches of the season - at least, in the games we won. ;)

For a young player who was an afterthought in the Vince Carter trade, Anderson became vitally important to whatever success we've had this season.

You guys are having fun with this but this is exactly what Howard is always complaining about. His teammates continuously shrink in the playoffs because the defensive pressure intensifies. when this happens their poor defense and marginal offensive skills are exposed. Hedo, J-rich, Jameer, and now Anderson are the biggest culprits. It's no wonder Howard wanted the likes of Davis because his the type to pick up his all around game when his offense isn't going. For example, I understand Ryno's defender isn't leaving him but that shouldn't stop him from collecting those offensive rebounds but instead he has completely taken himself out of this series.
Originated from the nethermost, currently however, our entire squadron is now hither.

If we had traded Hedo for SJax we would be in a much better situation, well, at least we would cap relief in 2013 offseason. We just would have to send Jrich somewhere else for a 2nd round pick + expiring contract.

Edit: Ryan's stats from the regular season sorted by wins/losses:

13-7 on 36-30-94 in losses
18-9 on 48-46-85 in wins

Basically he shoots well in our wins, shoots poorly in our losses. He drops about 1 minute of playing time and one FGA in our losses. This series has been completely different for him. He isn't getting close to his FGA, and he didn't shoot well in our one win, and he has had only one good rebounding game.

I don't really get what that stat proves... so when we lose Ryan (along with every other starter) underperforms, and when we win Ryan (along with every other starter) plays well. Isn't that just basketball?

I'm convinced that SVG will be gone and Dwight will stay. So how does getting a new coach play into resigning Ryan?

Do you think Ryan can succeed playing along Dwight in a Mike D'antoni or a Triangle Offensive scheme? Or under any other coach that might be available?

resigning anderson would be a mistake unless its for like 4-5mil a year, i said 3 months ago that ryan's skill set will not translate in the playoffs and he will not show up, hes a good young player that has room to grow, but no way you kill cap space by giving him a decent contract, if he wants 7-8-9 mil then let him walk, let jameer walk, save the money for real players in 2013, we will never get a star if we keep signing average players to semi large contracts, its time a GM in this organization has a vision, has a plan

He made it seem like his dislike for Ryan was more because of Bass favorism, which I can't take side with.

I always preferred Lakers-kinda style where you have 2 true max players, 2 stars 8-10M and 2 MLE guys, which gives you decent starting unit and 6th man, while others should be young players and vet ringchasers.

ryans game revolves around 3pt shooting and offensive rebounds. he will get neither against playoff teams, not now at age 22 or age 28.

W/L Splits

Dwight: 22-15-2 on 59-52 in wins; 19-13-1 on 55-44 in losses
Turk: 13-4-6 on 45-37-74 in wins; 9-3-3 on 37-32-63 in losses
JRich: 13-4-2 on 45-44-56 in wins; 10-4-2 on 36-27-62 in losses
Nelson: 11-3-6 on 46-42-82 in wins; 13-3-5 on 39-32-80 in losses
Redick: 14-2-3 on 47-46-91 in wins; 9-2-2 on 35-35-91 in losses
Baby: 9-5-1 on 44-72 in wins; 10-6-1 on 41-65 in losses

Baby also has the largest increase in minutes from wins to losses, playing almost four more minutes in our losses.

So what am I trying to prove? That Ryan is huge part of our success, bigger than anyone not named Dwight. If you want to build on that success you find some patterns in the numbers and adjust. Baby and Nelson scoring more points in our losses is something to be considered. Our 3pt% falling through the floor in our losses is something to be considered. And so on.

Ryan's regular season averages mean nothing. He sucks when it matters. He has potential, but he's not worthy of the praise fanboys have given him all year long.

Or get rid of all these shooters. Truth is, Magic was built wrong. Only our idiot GM and coach believes a team consist of three point shooters can win longterm.

Beating the KG-less Celtics and Lebron-Cavs was the worst thing that happened to Dwight, he has to play with a bunch of role players that only like to shoot.

Funny thing is there are some people who want our best player to be a good role player (by playing defense and stop complaining about not getting enough touches), so our role players can take all the shots they want and not play defense. Hilarious.
