ha, just imagining trying to explain to Carroll how we named the Hammers after him using only 140 character tweets.

because of that stupid limit, I think all I can really put is:

@GhJr09 Congratulations Gerald Henderson on winning Charlotte Bobcat's Realgm player of the year. AKA The Golden Hammer.

I can already picture him saying, WTF is that?

Maybe have a 2nd tweet.

The Hammers (named after the original Hammer @Matt_Carroll_) are voted on by diehard Bobcat and opposition fans after each game.

then add a link to the results like Crunk suggested.

I really like the link idea because people who don't know RGM exists, but like the bobcats enough to follow Hendo would be interested in the link.

this is exciting :)

EDIT: I retweeted it to the three people who follow me. maybe 5 people follow me by now.

EDIT: Would it be overboard to tweet our #2 and #3 winners as well?

i'd rephrase it for them to soften the blow of not being #1. something like

Congrats on winning the second most RGM Bobcats Hammer trophies this season, @37v6980euy98ewn0!

followed by that same tweet you sent to explain the hammers

Just done Kemba's, looks like Mullens has cancelled his.

Odd, as he had a very active account at first.

it started back in 2005 i believe. we were voting for the 3 best players for each game. at the time an unknown NBDL player named matt carroll came out of nowhere and started playing well for us. we gave carroll the nickname "hammer" after MC hammer (mc = matt carroll). kinda tongue and cheek we named the player of the game awards after him and starting calling them "hammers". the rest is history.

as for tweeting hendo, i love that idea. do it.

Thanks.

Well, I will have to say it is superior to the "Scrub of the Night" award given out on the Knicks forum on here, awarded to players on the other team, who put in a top performance, who aren't known for it. At least here, you give kudos to your own players.

No response from our winners, not really surprising.

Should I retweet it, or is that becoming stalking?

its twitter, the word stalking denotes a normal activity now. people who aren't you should tweet it maybe though, to show it's not made up
