Football damages the brain...duh

Post#1 » by CablexDeadpool » Thu May 3, 2012 10:25 pm

What I do not get about this whole safety thing about football...how can you not know, as a player, as a fan, as coach, as a exec. that football doesn't injury the brain. Football ruins the body, it ruins everything, I wouldn't let me kid play football, I would force him to play baseball or basketball.

My personal belief is football should be banned, it's a dangerous violent barbaric sport that uses faulty crappy equipment nationwide.

It shouldn't be played period, it ruins lives, literally. High school kids have gotten paralyzed playing the sport...you shouldn't be in a wheelchair because you got hit playing football at 16 years old.

But while playing this sport for generations...nobody really thought that getting hit in the freaking head repeatedly will not somehow screw up the brain?

It takes former players realizing they don't remember ****, committing suicide, getting dementia or Parkinson's and etc.

Nobody should willingly run around and get tackled and hit by 200 plus pound athletes for a living...it just shouldn't happen, you shouldn't be doing that to yourself, it's stupid as hell. Anybody can objectively look at a football and be like " This is the stupidest sport ever to ever freaking exist. Running around and getting knocked around by big freakish athletes, who the **** wanna sign up for that."

These players wanna sue the NFL for getting brain damage and getting this and getting that, no, you chose to play a dangerous senseless gladiator sport. You deal with it. How the hell do you not know?

That's like a pornstar suing the porn company she/he works for because she/he caught AIDS, you are a damn pornstar, that's the risk you get genius.

It's not that they didn't know that it causes brain damage. They just didn't know the extent.

I bet driving causes way more head injuries. Ban driving.

The NFL cannot and will not lose a lawsuit in my opinion. Because there is no direct link to pop warner football. High school football. Or collegiate football. If you sue the NFL you have to sue pop warner, your high school and college right? Where is the origin?

My thing is...these former players are suing the NFL right because they didn't know that their head was going to be messed up after years of playing football. So what is it that they are looking for? Money? Pay medical bills? What? Dementia is not curable.I don't understand. I guess this is why Barry Sanders left in his prime.

Yes, they are looking for money and help with medical bills. And maybe a few are looking for increased awareness.

read this:

I didn't know grade 1 was like that.

I've got quite a few of the grade 1s just from playing in a soccer league in gradeschool and junior high. And I'm not even counting the ones where I was heading the ball.

I guess good thing I lost interest because in JHS... everyone started kicking the ball with serious velocity and it was heavy. I always hated heading the ball because of that but it never deterred me because that was my job, and so was everyone else's on the team.
