Re: Raptors NBA Draft Thread: Jared Sullinger
I would be fine with the Raps drafting Sullinger. My concern with Jared was that he would become a fatty. He looked to be in good shape this year so I'll give him the benefit of doubt. He seems like a safe pick. Flipping Bargs for a shooting SF would make for an exciting off season.

Re: Raptors NBA Draft Thread: Jared Sullinger
if he measures out to be
6'9
under 265
Definitely. But then he wouldn't go 8.
Cleveland should take him and ditch Tristan.

We'd be lucky to get someone with Sullinger's talent at 8. If he's there you take him and run.
Then worry about trades later.

yea, it sure has worked well with ed davis. ppl on this board think of him as a throwin to trades nowadays.

Exactly.
There is a flaw with this idea of drafting BPA no matter what.
If you draft a player who duplicates what you already have, then that player doesn't get to play as much or develop as fast, so he has less trade value.
Also, other teams know you have to unload a duplicated player, so they can lowball you.

Re: Raptors NBA Draft Thread: Jared Sullinger
Sullinger is prob the most forsure pick in the draft (except from Anthony). We need talent period. If you get low balled you get low balled it's better than drafting a bust in the draft for position.
Haven't we learned from Hoffa?
How do you think Memphis feels about trading Love for Mayo? Plus, Sullinger is good enough to play time at the 5 spot. He's going to be better pro than Lamb he's almost a forsure double double player. You can always trade a big for a small.

I'm not against drafting Sullinger.
But in that case I would want to deal with the logjam right away, on draft night.
And of course I would do anything to get rid of our big Italian stiff.
If drafting Sullinger would accomplish that, then I say draft Sullinger.

Re: Raptors NBA Draft Thread: Jared Sullinger
He's not my first choice, but I would love to pick him just because it would surely signal that Bargnani's time was coming to an end. I think he'll be a good player (16-18 points / 8-9 rebounds) which would be a amazing value at #8.
Draft Sullinger, throw a ton of money at Batum, move Bargnani, Bayless + more for someone like Jennings. Move Ed Davis for a shooter (draft or bench guy). I know it's a lot of moves, but BC has said he had a few trades to get a young stud ready to go but decided to wait, he's said he wants to add shooters, and many in the organization say that they are looking to add the peices to start winnipeg next season.
Jennings / Calderon
DeMar / Shooter (Doron Lamb?)
Batum / JJ / Forbes
Sullinger / Amir / Kleiza
Big V / Gray / 2nd rounder
That would be a great lineup to draft Sullinger into. Sullinger + Big V would make a great duo offensively. Sullinger has a midrange game, Big V operates more in the low block. They can both play high post or low post depending on what they're running. The question would be how is Sullinger going to be defensively, but Big V projects to be a good help defender. He covers a lot of ground and has such long reach that he should be able to mask some of Sullinger's short comings.

Davis' career MP is 23.9. He's had plenty of time to prove whether he's good or not. He's just not that good or talented.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

I'll be surprised if he is anywhere north of 6'7" when the combine measurements come in

Re: Raptors NBA Draft Thread: Jared Sullinger
If Lamb is off the board then more and more I'm leaning towards Sullinger as the BPA and as our pick.
Sucks that I don't think Davis or Amir will fetch us the upgrade needed at the wings but it's rare when teams regret deciding on taking the bpa vs fit. I also think he will have MUCH better trade value than the other names available if need be.
I wouldn't say for certain that he is the 2nd most likely to be a good player from this draft but he has plenty of skill that I'm sure he will not disappoint as a pick which can't be said for all.

If he's available and Beal is gone(****), I take him and build a legit front court. Sully has the size, skill, impact on both ends of the floor, and the smarts to be an impact player from the outset. I'd be surprised if he doesn't rise; I think he offers more than T-Rob.
Draft Sully and Bargs+Ed can share a cab to Pearson. And I like Ed.

I think you had better take a look at that draft. The non-PFs taken in order after Ed Davis were Luke Babbitt, Eric Bledsoe, Avery Bradley (has had a nice run, but is still a 6'2" SG), James Anderson, Elliot Williams, Damion Jones, Dominique Jones, Quincy Pondexter, Jordan Crawford, Greivis Vasquez and Lazar Haywood. Plus, taking a combo PG would have only created an equal logjam with Jose, Bayless and whoever else they drafted. The Raptors are better off with Ed Davis. If anything, taking Ed Davis is an argument for both taking BPA, and for tanking a little harder so you've got a shot at better players who play a wider variety of positions.

He's seen on clip interviews standing next to a 6''8 Barnes. From there, I saw him roughly taller than Barnes so he should be at least around 6'9 (w/ shoes).

Re: Raptors NBA Draft Thread: Jared Sullinger
Of course I could be dead wrong but I just get a feeling that Sullinger may actually turn out better than TRob when its all said and done. TRobs such a hard worker that its hard to bet against him but I just feel like Sully is soooo slept on in comparison.
Its kind of odd to me how hes not considered atleast around MKG and Beal`s level when you consider his production. He has actually outplayed Barnes, Lamb and Drummond quite easily.

Sullinger has more skills than T Rob. T Rob just bullies his way into the paint, which doesn'
