The only way I'm happy with a Dallas elimination is if the Thunder do it. Guess it worked out for the best. I would've been pissed to see them lose to LAL or something.

Of course, with Josh Smith, Al Horford and Jeff Teague on board there's no point in doing so, but what exactly is stopping the Hawks from doing what we did? Joe Johnson's contract is totally ridiculous, but at least he's still a very good player and the Hawks have the option of amnestying him in the future.

Atlanta's five-year run is very reminiscent of the 2000-2004 Charlotte/New Orleans Hornets. I'd say that beats the position we're in right now.

I wouldn't, they are stuck at mediocre with some terrible contracts. We have a vision of more, it is a long road but we just have to stick with the plan.

But according to this mysterious poster named Hon-essim, the Hawks are gearing up for a title run with Larry Drew as the head coach. All they needed to do was get rid of the worthless Woodson who couldn't make it past the second round of the playoffs. Oh by the way, what round are we in now? :lol:

I'd take the 25% chance of excitement (or even the unpredictability) over the excessive predictability of the Hawks. I mean they aren't even exciting to watch on the floor, you know they can never come close to the ECF, yet won't be bad enough to improve and have no room to work with. They absolutely must sell now on Josh Smith and Horford and figure what to do with Joe Johnson. If they wait any longer, they'll be screwed. They have gotten lucky with their draft picks however.

You are right they are very reminiscent of the old Hornets. I feel we were a lot closer to the finals though in 2001 than the Hawks the last 5 years. They've been brutally swept in 2 semifinal series and really weren't close at all against the Bulls last year.

joe johnson, josh smith, marvin williams, al horford and zaza pachulia have all been together for 5 years. in that time they have won 37, 47, 53, 44 and 40 games making the playoffs 5 times, getting knocked out in 1st round twice and 2nd round three times. their record in the 2nd round during that span is 2-12. those five players make a combined 59~ million next season.

Atlanta doesn't really care. They just need a competitive team to field every year. It doesn't have to actually win in the playoffs; just make them.

They might blow up the team eventually but I doubt it will be before we finish blowing up. They don't want to compete for suckage in the same division.

...and my favorite Charlotte Hornet probably ended his career last night. Torn ACL, MCL, and patella tendon for Baron Davis. At his age, I can't be optimistic about a return.
