Would you guys be interested in Big Al?

Post#1 » by Ugly0598 » Mon May 7, 2012 5:10 am

Just wondering, I'm not sure how high you guys are or not on Marcus Thornton or Tyreke anymore, but would you guys take a look at trading Big Al + Future late 1st Round Pick or 2nd Round Pick for Marcus Thornton? He is someone on my radar that I would like us to see.

I think Millsap would be a good fit alongside Cousins but I don't want to give him up.

I don't think the Kings want to move Thornton or Tyreke, but jeez Al Jefferson and a 1st? I think you're overpaying.

Just don't know about the fit with Cousins, but the Kings would have a potentially devastating inside duo with them.

The Jazz need a 3 point shooting wing, Thornton would be a nice fit and he can create his own shot. Defensively I'm not sure how Cousins-Al would be, but it is a very nice combo.

I'd do it. Not a huge Thornton fan. It would free up a spot to take Beal if we were in the 4-6 range as well.

I wouldnt. I'd have thorton come off da bench as my James Harden. That allows Evans to play sg. We need a better sf, like a Granger. And upgrade at pf.

We'd be interested in Favors though.

I think that would be a bad mix. IT makes me think of the Randolph Curry front court the knicks had. Just terrible on defense and they constantly would get in each others way making each player less effective. Ideally the kings would put an Ibaka type player next to Cousins.

Millsap and favors are more desirable in terms of fit.

And in general I don't think it's matching value, seeing as Al is a 15mil expiring contract and is an unrestricted FA next year (And his team doesn't see him as a longterm option and wants to get rid of his for their younger guns, making his value even lower)

Even if we liked him as a player, we'd be silly to give up a young 20ppg SG on a good contract - we would just wait it out and try make a move in the summer (and we won't cause again Big-Al doesn't fit with Cousins defensively at all)

I wouldn't want to move Thornton either. If you moved Reke for Jefferson that'd be a nice 3 headed monster with Jefferson/Cousins/Thornton.

No way the Jazz trade favors for anyone on the kings, no disrespect. Millsap could be had though.

Favors is the type of player the kings need next to cousins, but my god the guy is sooo grossly over rated on realgm by jazz fans it's sickening! The guy hasn't done anything, he is still nothing more than potential.

Haven't done anything consistently, but I think he showed enough flashes in the time he was given to warrant the praise he's getting to fulfill some of that potential.

I would only offer Jefferson for the #5 pick. Fans probably don't like the idea but the last thing the Kings need is more youth.. they need maturity to help cousins reach his potential. Al Jefferson has been a great mentor to our young players and is just entering his prime at 27. I think it would be a great fit for your guys.

You don't need another wing player.

We need a good or capable wing player... Our 3 spot sucks big time...

So now Jefferson expiring contract and unrestricted free agent status next summer has a top 5 pick value?

 Why don't you go pitch that offer around, see what the response would be.. even if we actually needed Big-Al and he would be a fit for us(he's not) his value is not anywhere near that.

Jefferson's issue isn't his age. It's that he's not at all what we need in terms of fit.

Very hard to know what team Jefferson would fit with, but it sure isn't this one.
