I still don't like the shield logo but I absolutely love the second one. I hope that becomes our main logo over time, though if it did I wish the Nets name could be incorporated somewhere.

:o

What does that say about New York?

It could just be the hype. When the Sonics moved to OKC was there a reaction like this? Can't seem to recall it right now

The gear looks great, the team....not so much....and it can, and most likely get worse :D. But at least our gear sales are up

I think everyone likes the 2nd one better bc it has more of the black meeting the white and that pops.. The shield is less cohesive.

Photoshop of the alternate logo saying Brooklyn nets?

Want to bet that will be the first in the "Big" NBA commercials next season haha?

Speaking of those BIG commercials, who else died when they aired the 'Melo one? Talk about bad timing

I actually mentioned this in another thread, but I barely saw any Nets merchandise in any of the major retail stores. Not even Deron jerseys, which you would think they'd stock. Its not hard to see how Modell's would have better sales in the first day of the launch than they would have last season.

As for the official team site... well I guess that does speak volumes in terms of the possible influx of fans. Honestly its kind of sad see how things went the last few years for the team in NJ. Especially after seeing how things got in the early part of the 00's.

It was a lame duck season, with obvious knowledge that new jerseys/logos/colors were coming. No one in their right mind would shell out bucks to purchase Nets gear that would have likely gone on the clearance bin once the new colors/logos are announced.

^^But this was the 2010-11 season, when we moved to Newark and acquired Deron. I'd think there would be some buzz from that.

But double the sales of that full 82-game regular season in one day and on a Monday no less is pretty remarkable.

Is it out of the question to think the Nets move to Brooklyn instantly increased the value of the actual NBA $100 million?

I would say so.

It's not like this is a completely new team. We move 25 miles away and change jerseys and now people are flocking to wear Nets stuff simply because the colors look nice?

The Knicks and Lakers make so much money because the casual fan that almost never watches basketball can go anywhere in the world and say "Knicks" or "Lakers" and people will immediately know what is being referenced.

I know many NJ fans don't like it but the Nets need to embrace Brooklyn the way they have been doing it, because they're trying mark it as their own territory and forcefully make Knick fans into Nets fans.

I don't think it's an accident that management is taking pictures with the Yankees (baseball's most storied franchise) and not the Mets. They're doing a complete image makeover and it's working beautifully.

We could lose D-Will and that's not even the first thing that is coming to mind for most people. The first thing that is coming to mind is the BROOKLYN, the colors, and the actual composition of the team isn't really being talked about yet.

If we manage to put a playoff caliber team that can make it to the second round in Brooklyn in the first season, the popularity will increase dramatically.

I see this last comment through around but it really isn't true in regards to the Knicks... Everyone knows the Lakers just like everyone knows the Yankees but the Knicks aren't on the same level of international brand recognition.

it's not even close, and I say that while putting my hatred for the Knicks aside.

I have now discovered a trick that saves myself from embarrassment. Anytime I over-scroll and start going past the 'N' section, I just keep going all the way and check out the 'Media Lounge' first :)
