Best Favors Combo- Sap or Al?

Post#1 » by SoCalJazzFan » Mon May 7, 2012 10:13 pm

I posed the question below to two posters on another thread which was off topic of the thread. It is "the" question over the next several weeks to months in my opinion.

". . . . the primary question- which player (Sap or Big Al) will make the team better playing with Favors?

Quite frankly, that is all that matters as I think that there would be a consensus that we cannot keep all three into the future.

Once that question is answered, the next question we will be asking ourselves, as soon as tomorrow, is what could we get for that player?"

I'd be interested in everyone's thoughts on this.

I would actually trade away Millsap and Jefferson in the off season and get a PG and Wing and go ahead and start Kanter and Favors together. I know Kanter isnt ready but he has shown enough to be ok.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I've wanted the Jazz to trade Al all season long. I think the reliance on his offense has been detrimental to the offensive growth of the entire team and we know how bad his defense is.

I said going into this season that Millsap is a better complementary player; while I'm no longer convinced of that due to his tendency to play one-on-one, I think he's more likely to be successful off the bench and with a lower usage rate than Al requires.

So my preference is still to trade Al; keep Millsap through his contract and phase him out as Kanter (or someone else) steps up.

Think this is a no-brainer. Al and Favors are much more complimentary of one another. Lots of people feel otherwise, but I think they're letting their Millsap-love (which I have plenty of) cloud their reasoning skills.

I think HT might be right though: this is a false choice. The truth is that neither one of them is likely to be in a Jazz uniform two years from now. May as well trade them now and try to get future assets.

There are really three options. Which is better of:

Favors-Millsap-Jefferson's Trade Return
Favors-Jefferson-Millsap's Trade Return
Favors-Jefferson's Trade Return-Millsap's Trade Return

I think Al-Fav is the better combo, but like HP said... 2 years from now, neither will be on this team.

i think Al as he will help the youngsters the most to learn a real post game. Millsap can't because he has no post game. Also, because Millsap will garner the most on the trade market. I think a trade of Millsap to Portland for #6 & #11 would be good. I would take Andre Drummond/Barnes or Beal whoever is there and the the best PG available at #11.

Sap Might get one of those but no way it gets both.

Millsap for 6 and 11. He definitely could get that.

Gallo, chandler, faried, lawson or afflalo. I might need a sweetener for Faried, since he's basically a poor mans millsap. But the rest I do one for one easily.

Afflalo and Chandler are the only players I could see Denver moving for Jefferson. Denver won't trade Gallo, Lawson or Faried. Faried put up 10 and 8 in 22 min per game. He's gonna be good. You're selling him short.
