There are 15 teams still alive in the playoffs. Perhaps they want to talk to some of their coaches (head and assistants) before making a final decision. Van Gundy is a potential option. Spoelstra will likely be the fall guy in Miami doesn't win a title again, and the Wiz may want to talk to him.

I think they'll have a coach in place between the draft and summer league.

The Pope doesn't have an offseason.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Question on Stan Van....I've seen how he coaches the Magic with his feed it down low and spread the floor w/ shooters approach. My question is how would his coaching style translate to the Wizards? What did his sytsem look like in Miami?

Aside from the scheme which admittedly I don't know about until I understand more about how he coached Miami, my hesitation of Stan Van is he's just a grumpy guy. Will his whining, downer personality work well with a young team that plays well when they're energetic?

He is truly annoying. I would guess our younger players would think the same.

Just say no to screech.

If you are around. How about resetting this poll and removing Sam and adding Randy and whoever else is now viable.

You could log the initial results on the first page.

So I guess we're not interested in hiring a coach?

What's the rush? The draft is in 2.5 months, so is free agency.

There you go Rafey with that Harry Potter math and perspective. :D

The draft is June 28th. Today is May 14th. Now in my universe, that would be 1.5 months. I think it would be a good idea to have a coach in place before the draft and free agency so they can offer input.

Charlotte asked for and received permission from Memphis to talk to one of its assistant coaches, David Joerger, about its head coaching vacancy

via Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News

The Cats have been interviewing a lot of potential coaches, Joerger among them.
The Wizards shoukd have drafted Derik Queen

I told you so :banghead:

My bad, the days just run together at this point.

My first choice is still Stan Van Gundy if he's available and if he wants to coach after he's fired. He may just sit the year out and get paid.

No re-treads, even good ones. I want someone hungry to make their reputation and their fortune. Dave Joerger/Mike Budenholzer/Brian Shaw/Michael Malone/Dave Blatt, someone like that and I'll be excited.

Why?

Doc Rivers was a "re-tread." So was Phil Jackson, Stan Van Gundy, Pat Riley, KC Jones.

Up and comers fail too.

My list.

1. Bill Laimbeer
2. Dave Joeger
3. Stan Van Gundy
4. David Blatt
5. Mike Budenholzer
6. Brian Shaw

Wittman did a commendable job and he probably deserves an interview but...

Interesting Dat. Laimbeer first? Do we really know enough about
him as a potential coach outside of the WNBA to take that kind of
chance on him?

No arguments on the rest of your list.
