Drew Going with the 'Core' for Game 5

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Tue May 8, 2012 4:26 pm

ajchawks: Larry Drew says #Hawks starters vs. #Celtics GM 5: Teague, J. Johnson, Williams, Smith, Horford

I was actually thinking this was a good adjustment to make a few days ago.

Especially if this might be L Drew's last game as a coach, I'd go with the group that has carried him thus far.

Not sure what Horford can do tonight, but I'm excited to see the main group get one more shot.

As the old saying goes, if you're gonna go down, go down shooting.

I'm predicting a big win tonight. But with this team...who knows.

Anybody else excited that the somewhat Fab Five are back together? Or that our two Collegiate champions are back in the starting five?

I hope that last game was a training game in order to add Horford, and that they ost it because of that.
The only explanation to the last loss can be this.
I thought about it several times, and ATL needed to win the last two home game and one of the two games in BOS, 4th or 6th, so Drew prefered to sacrify the 4th game to put Horford in rythm.

It was doing that, or adding Horford in the secound round in case ATL beats BOS.
I was surprised because the team was playing right without Horford, and it's not like he spent most of the season with them and only missed some games. They really learned how to play without him, and adding him in the middle of a playoffs round is a big gamble IMO.
Maybe it's Smith's injury that helped Drew decision, but in case Horford looks not in rythm with the other players from the start of the game, I hope Drew will bench him soon enough and go the first three games lineup until he really finds a mismatch by using Horford.

Let's win this game !

Eh. Horford scored 12 points and had 5 rebs in 20 minutes on 60% shooting.

I don't believe he was the reason we were down by 20+ points at the half.

My question is: Could he have gotten even better numbers had he played a full 40 minutes? The way things were going, he could have gotten 20pts, but it wouldn't have mattered much.

Marvin has rebounded well. Thats about all I can say for him in this series.

Man, Horford is a beast. And this is with him not even 100% yet. Having him back completely changes the series. They have to re-adjust everything they were doing against us defensively.

The jumper is falling, his defense is rugged. (Who'd have thunk he could actually shut off Rondo on a key posession?)

Marvin was aggressive being back with the big boys. (Putting him back in the staring lineup was a genius move for a guy lacking rhytm and confidence.)

If we can just get JJ going for game 6...is anyone else excited to be at full strength again?

What's the news on Zaza?
