Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXIII: Offseason Editio
Alright, here we go.... anyone here good with crunching numbers and "predicting" what needs to happen/occur so we can gear up for the 2013 FA? ... we have to clear cap... trade for expiring contracts?

I think the league salary cap was $58.4mil, so I'm assuming it'll be around $60-$62mil next season.

Josh Robbins @JoshuaBRobbins
Jameer Nelson said after the #Magic were eliminated that he hasn't decided what he'll do with his player option.
So do we hope he doesn't opt out so that we can trade him? When is the deadline to opt out?

I hope he doesn't opt out. He would be a nice trade piece. He knows that though, so I fully expect him to opt out.
He has 7 days to decide, I believe.

I generally like Iggy but some of you need to lower your expectations concerning him. He's averaging 10/6/3 on 36% shooting against a broken Bulls team right now. He's a lot better than trash like Hedouche but he's not a game changer.

There's already people on twitter talking about Howard going to the Nets. Jesus make it stop

We're not asking for him as a go-to scorer. We want his defense and playmaking. It doesn't hurt that he's super athletic too.

Agreed but he's still a nice piece of the puzzle. Especially defensively.

Does anyone wanna play in an online association on NBA 2K12? I'll make one if I can get some people to join. It's going to be on the 360 though. I would've made a thread about it, but, this place is pretty populated I'm sure and I'm assuming most of you guys will see this.

It's all about a culture change. Iggy can play point forward, defend the perimeter, play the passing lanes, drive the lane, and play above the rim. Athleticism.
Plus, that's good. His trade value is low.

Let them talk, no one cares.
When Dwight Howard wanted to go to the Nets this past season, Orlando wanted to trade him to the Lakers for Bynum. I think if Orlando can't get him to sign an extension then they are going to trade him to the team that is best for Orlando.

We need him to have a Pietrus role for us.

I hope our new GM values picking up/stockpiling good talent regardless of their position. It is laughable that we aren't able to trade for anything good due to our lack of talent.

If Jameer opts out... I don't really see any team out there giving him > ~$8mil contract... $8mil being the amount he will earn in his final year of his current deal if he opts-in.

I think he will opt out for a MLE deal just to avoid being traded somewhere he doesn't want to be. You know he has a lot of pride and wants to be a starter. He will want to decide where he goes.
In other words we are going to have HUGE hole at the pg position if Jameer walks on us.

Yep, Xbox. I want to get a few guys from here before I go onto the GB if I have to if we don't get enough players here. I tried joining public online associations but they're not really that enjoyable. I like it better when I at least know them a little bit.
BTW, Chosen and TJM, are you guys around? I would like to get you guys in on this if you two aren't too busy.

Yep, we're going to have to draft well (not exactly our best skill) and make some good moves... because Reece Gaines isn't walking through that door.
