We're also the only team to not have a healthy All-Star. The Bulls have a deep team as well as Deng and Boozer. The Hawks had Smoove, JJ, and Horford. The Nuggets have Gallinari, Lawson, Miller, Afflalo and on and on. We have no depth and our superstar is out with an injury.

They have All-Star type talent. But that's not what I was saying when I mentioned them, I was saying they have depth. Everyone on the court you have to respect.

Well imo... the Nuggets don't have a star... but they have extreme depth and athleticism... we don't have that... Andre Miller, Ty Lawson, Gallinari, Chandler, Faried, Afflalo, Harrington, McGee, Brewer etc are way better than any of our players

The Nuggets have more of an athletic squad than the Magic do. However they lack a better go-to scorer imo to help subplant the Lakers out of the playoffs this year.

As for us, we are under construction to make way for the 2012-13 season.

Hibbert dominated defensively and on the boards. He didn't dominate offensively. He didn't need to most of the time. And there's a reason for this.

Hibbert vs Davis was not our best match up.

West vs Anderson was our best match up.

Big Baby is wide and stocky. And he can play defense. He didn't let Roy get deep post position.

Because acquiring a deep post position has nothing to do with height. It's a matter of strength, width, girth and equilibrium.

The Heat do not have stocky big men. Well, Turiaf is strong but he is not as stocky or as wide as Davis. Joel Anthony is lean. They will limit him if they double him as you did in the last game but then someone else could go off :)

Miami isn't doubling hibbert imo. They're going to run James, wade, and bosh right through his chest and foul him out. Onegin isn't that good of a team and hibbert isn't a good post defender or scorer. His opposiion was 6 inches shorter than him. The Miami bigs will be fine. The only guy I see giving them trouble is west.

PS: I really enjoyed the civilized conversation with several Magic fans in the GB series thread.

But I don't understand why some people felt the need to attack daschysta there. Your forum, your rules, I guess?

Anyway, as I said in the GB. Some of your players have heart. Kudos to them. Thanks for being competitive.

I understand that this series would be completely different with Dwight. He is dominant and a difference maker. Tough break for you, guys.

As for the outcome of that hypothetical series w/ Dwight. You would be the favorites but I couldn't make a prediction. I just believe that it would be a close series.

Just my two cents.

Quite probable.

Blue_and_Whte wrote:and hibbert isn't a good post defender or scorer.

I disagree here. I've seen enough of Roy to know that he is a good low post scorer and a good post defender. He is a bad PnR defender though and as the Heat run a lot of PnRs I do expect them to give him a lot of trouble.

Blue_and_Whte wrote:His opposiion was 6 inches shorter than him.

Height is not what matters when 2 players fight for a post position. Width, girth, strength, balance. Those things come into play when you battle to establish deep post position. This was Hibbert's problem in this series. I don't see him having the same problem against Joel since Joel is lanky.

Edit: But to each his own I suppose :D

Your boy came in and completely disregarded the best center in the entire NBA and arguably the 2nd best overall player in basketball while hyping up the little subtle moves your team made. That's why people responded. Dude was not "attacked." Believe me I have seen far worse on this forum when outsiders try to chime in.

Good luck in the next round though, your team is certainly going to need it.

you know very well that isn't what I said.

I said that those things improved the Pacers, who were already very competitive with the Magic during the season, and which both occured after the last head to head. The improvement was evident in Indy's league best April record before sitting starters the final two, and their domination of teams like okc and mia.

Obviously those improvements are less significant than losing dwight, but could easily make a difference in a series when the teams were pretty evenly matched even when the magic had dwight. Healthy the series could have gone either way, I was only speaking to the sentiment that Orl would somehiw “mop the floor” with indy when indy earned the higher seed and had homecourt, which indicates a serious lack of respect for your opponent that earned their spot near the top of the conference.

Don't see how you got barbs›dwight.

as for hibbert he is a bad pick and roll defender but an excellent post defender, he alter shot after shot this series and blocked many too, hes also a very good post scorer and rebounder too, he scored well in the post here for the most part, but indy has 2 good post scorers and vogel attacked the weaker defender, who was on west most of the series, plus big babies low center of gravity was difficult to move, which sometimes gives roy problems.
Miami will be tough for sure, but we have been very competigive w/ them the last 2 games, blowing them out and going to double OT.

Your team fought hard and should be commended, I never meant to convey howard wasn't a difference maker though, not sure how anyone gotmthat impression from claiming he singlehandedly makes a series the Pacers dominated a toss-up, shrug...

The Pacers indeed made some changes that would help them to be more competitive against the Magic in the post-season.

In fact, the match up against Dwight was one of the prime reasons that we got Kyrylo Fesenko. Not that he would be a difference maker but he could foul him instead of letting him dunk.

Anyway, as I said you would be the favorites in that series. It's just that I don't believe that you would roll over us.

Similarly with Miami. We'll need a lot of luck. That's granted. They are the favorites and chances are that they will prevail. But I don't see us rolling over either.

It's just a matter of having faith in your team that they'll be able to fight. Not an attempt to discredit Dwight or the Magic :D

Essentially it boils down to the fact that we had just lost the series, and it's been a very tough season.

As a result, most posters were not in their happy place.

So the timing was off

Yeah I read through it again and he was just defending his team which I have no problem with. I was pretty pissed during that time so I really didn't care to digest the point of his post. It's all good though, I'm glad that this nightmare of a season is over. Hopefully the nightmare does not continue in the offseason.
