Sure, lets DUMP the GM job to an inexperienced person who has no clout with the rest of the NBA.
Magic are going to suck for 10 more years!?!?!?

JRich and Hedo? No GM can make that happen.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXIII: Offseason Editio
Jrich can be easily traded for nothing, IMO. We could get an expiring for him from Minnesota, for example.
Hedo is a major problem, we would have to send something valuable with him.
Duhon is another untradeable player this offseason. We will have to waive him next offseason or unload him with a 1st to get 1.5mi relief.

Yeah, I fully expect JRich to moved. His deal is tradeable. Hedo is tough and virtually untradeable. The only scenario I see us possibly trading Hedo is if we pair him with perhaps Ryan or JJ or BBD for Joe Johnson, who's on a terrible deal.

If we could some how sign Terrence Williams this off season I would be extremely happy, sadly he wants to stay in Sac-Town and they love him. So hopefully we can find a way to get rid of J-Rich and Hedo.

Like i already said, i'd try to trade Hedo with Ryan for an expiring (i proposed Rashard and Brand), this way we would get cap space in 2013 and at least we would get something for Ryan. I think Ryan will get at least a 8-10mi/year deal and i dont think he worths it. We need a real all-star, not a borderline one.

NBA Salary Cap FAQ wrote:A roster charge if the team has fewer than 12 players (players under contract, free agents included in team salary, players given offer sheets, and first round draft picks). The roster charge is equal to the rookie minimum salary for each player fewer than 12. For example, if there are 11 players included in team salary, then an amount equal to the rookie minimum salary is added to the team salary1; if the roster is completely empty, then 12 times the rookie minimum salary is added to the team salary. This roster charge only applies during the offseason.
In other words if we have Dwight/Davis/JRich/QRich after waiving Hedo and Duhon and bare boning everything else we'd have $4 million in "roster charges"
Edit: Our salary would be $47.912 million in this scenario, this is why I'd rather just keep our draft picks

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXIII: Offseason Editio
Full Story:
The Orlando Magic are expected to make several significant changes this offseason and Adonal Foyle could be at the center of their first major move.
Foyle was named Director of Player Development with the Magic in September of 2010.
The Magic interviewed Foyle for the General Manager position prior to the March 15th trade deadline, according to sources.
Otis Smith’s future with the team is unknown at this point, but it’s believed that Foyle is the favorite to take Smith’s place should the team make a change.
Sources say Magic CEO Alex Martins was impressed with Foyle and heavily relied on him to help with the understanding of the basketball operations side of the business. Foyle is also being courted by other teams, specifically the Charlotte Bobcats and the Magic don’t want to lose him, sources said.
The Magic have involved Foyle in many of the team’s personnel decisions this season.
Prior to the trade deadline the Magic formed a traveling war room as they searched for potential deals to appease Dwight Howard. Foyle was said to be instrumental in all discussions and was viewed as Martins’ “right hand man.” He is said to have been the “point man” in the trade discussions with the New Jersey Nets. He even made a trip to the New Jersey to meet with Billy King, according to sources.
Foyle's emergence came around the same time the rumors of Smith’s loss of decision-making power surfaced. Sources said that Martins stripped Smith of all decision-making power and, along with Foyle, took control of all trade talks, which is believed to have been the primary reason the team failed in their pursuit of Monta Ellis.
After Howard decided to opt-in, Foyle was told he would be involved in all future personnel decisions.
When asked about the initial interview Foyle denied it. He did, however, acknowledge that there has been interest from other teams, but didn’t specify what role his suitors would move him to.
Martins was non-committal about Smith’s future Wednesday at the Amway Center. He would only say that every position, including his, will be “evaluated.”

Why would Ryan help us just to be traded? It's possible but I would put the likelihood at less than 10%.

That doesn't make any sense. So a team with no players and with all rights renounced would have $36-40M in cap taken up on these cap holds? I don't think that's the right interpretation.
What's our team salary for BBD, JRixh, Q and the guaranteed portions of Hedo and Du? Don't include Dwight's cap hold or these other cap holds. It's around $25M right?
Now, what if we also move BBD and JRich for expirings?
If we enter 13-14 with noone on our books except the guaranteed portions of Hedo and Du's deals we could have $45-50M to offer Dwight plus 2 other stars. We could have our own big 3, surrounded by ring chasing veterans.

12x rookie minimum, not 36-40M.

I think that trying to predict something right now is pretty hard, we have to wait some days until we see what will happen with our FO, HC and players' options (Nelson, etc). Maybe even wait until the draft order is assembled.

This offseason, nothing too exciting, short of a miracle. I believe we have to sell Dwight on taking a small step backwards this upcoming year to position ourselves for the summer of 2013. If he's not on board with that, we cannot realistically keep him. So first, we have to find out where Dwight stands.

I may have missed the conversation on this earlier when I stepped out. I thought Meer had 7 days to decide on his option. Why is it now 3 days?

Fine print disclaimer for Fultz:
I am high on Markelle Fultz. Yes I understand he is not perfect and needs to shoot more and better and turn the ball over less. I would really like to see him play one more year… and I did and he sucks time to move on.

the *** has it for Dwight since he was humiliated by our boy on NBA tv.

"Aaron Gordon will cost Henny's job by Dec 2016." Predicted Dec 2014.
"O'Quinn will have a longer and more successful NBA career than Nicholson." Predicted Jun 2012. Verified on Dec 2014.

MoMM nailed it, each clear player slot is 'charged' the rookie minimum, which is a little under 500K. So if we traded everyone and waived Hedo and Duhon we'd have $7.5M for those two and then 12 x 500k, or $6M more, = $13.5M. A TON OF CAP ROOM LOL. If we don't manage to trade our long term contracts then we have $28.912M, or around $31.088M to offer Dwight and a FA.
