You guys shouldn't use facebook, wtf? Easy to track, people can get your accounts from there. Hotlinking from facebook isn't a good idea, just upload to imgur (you can copy the facebook pic's url and upload to imgur using that).

You could always save an image and reupload them onto a new site though, I don't think we should get too much into specific sites, just have a few sites that people can upload the images to, such as the suggested ones like photobucket, imgur, tinypic, etc.

Re: Signature and Avatar Site Hosting Requests/Policy Thread
I think the timing of limiting the upload hosts is inconvenient for many users. Why make such a policy change at the height of the playoffs? It's as if you are trying to maximize the hassle for your users.
During the playoffs myself and others use sigs that update automatically as our teams progress. Switching to a site like photo bucket will now force people update keep track of new url's and update their sigs every few days.
This is the type of thing that should wait for the off season when things slow down. Implement the policy starting July 4th and not June 4th.

IMO i don't think we should even have photos in the signatures. bad enough looking at someone's avatar sometimes.

I'm going to disagree...the avs/sigs are a huge problem, because they've been a source of a lot of virus complaints over the years, and the sooner it is fixed, the better. Keeping track of URLs is a minor issue, a small amount of time spent; having long-time users cease to visit the site because they're getting all manner of undesired **** from buried scripts in hotlinked avatars is a much bigger issue. I know mods and users who were here for a half-decade or more who swore off RealGM because they simply will not take the risk anymore.
**** your asterisk.

Re: Signature and Avatar Site Hosting Requests/Policy Thread
why are links necessary at all? can't your provider provide a way for users to simply upload the files so that your provider can scan them for trouble?

Is Facebook allowed?
I am not sure that we will follow Facebook.
Everything listed in this thread will be under consideration but a lot of sites will not make the cut.

And I nominate Imgur as well. Facebook might also be a popular one (I don't use it myself but I imagine others might).
Only Signatures and Avatars although I will pass this on to our Contractor.
