My priorities coming to this offseason were simple, get an impact player on offense to compliment Cutler and Forte and build depth in the trenches.

A couple quick notes;

1) Didn't address the Backup QB position because honestly, I feel confident enough that Cutlers injury was a tad fluky and the guy otherwise has minimal injury history

2) Wanted to address the aging LB core and getting Hawthorne to play the outside is a huge plus for the defense. An inside guy my trade, he has all the tools to play outside and eventually slide into the Mike spot when Urlacher starts to get up in age. At 6 mil a year, it was a no-brainer.

3) Bierman is the perfect situational pass rusher and along with Vin Curry should improve our pass rushing on those critical downs where the Bears struggled at. The hope is Curry developes into a 3 down guy to compliment Peppers and take his place in the future.

4) As far as I'm concerned, I just drafted my two starting DT's. I fully expect them to start and hold down the line to free up the LB's. Both Thompson and Winn will start from day one with Paea as a rotational guy.

5) Jeffery and Marshall.....nuff said. Two big WR's that can get downfield and change the game after the catch. Bennett is the wild card, if he can come into camp and compete he can be a very good weapon. But TE is an area of concern at this point.

6) Polk will be my third down back and help on special teams. But he is insurance if Fortes contract situation isn't resolved by next offseason.

7) Denard will either boom or bust, here is hoping for boom. An optimal system for ball hawking guys and aggressive corners like Denard. If his head is on straight, he is a steal.

Don't forget Melton. That's a ridiculous DT rotation.

^^^^I agree with Heir.

That DT rotation compensates for the lack of an established DE, IMHO. The havoc that your DTs, along with Peppers, will create will keep your other DE from being double teamed. If Curry steps up like you expect, your D-Line will dominate even more.

Great d-tackle rotation. I think Curry is an upgrade opposite Peppers. Good overall draft. Love the Hawthorne pick up. Good offseason

Return to Chicago Bears
