He is just a more skilled Tim Bradley... He is a world class fighter but even if he was in my hometown, I wouldn't rush to go see his fight.

He is also ducking Bute...

I like Ward too. He's an easy guy to root for. I don't like this fight however. No one was clamoring for a Ward/Dawson match up. If anything Dawson should attempt to avenge his loss against Pascal, while Ward and Bute duke it out at 168.

BTW, I don't think Ward is ducking Bute at all. It's all politics. He just wants to make Bute jump through hoops before they fight. Ward's argument is that Bute's competition hasn't been great, which isn't entirely Bute's fault seeing as how he wasn't invited to the Super Six tournament. Once(if) Bute beats Froch, it likely sets up a fight with Ward down the line. Maybe later in the year or early next.

Yea and its embarrassing. I mean, he said Bute didn't deserve a fight with him because while he (Ward) was busy fighting the top guys in the division in the tournament he (Bute) has been fighting at home against weak opposition. I'm sorry. But was it Bute's fault he was the only 168 pound titlist not put in the tournament by Showtime? Everyone and there mother was questioning why he was not in there while guys like Jermain Taylor and Arthur Abraham were. Especially since both guys never fought at 168 and looked like **** in the tournament.

Ward doesn't want to fight Bute in Canada despite the fact that, there are more than 25K ppl willing to pay to see that instead of going to Oakland,Atlantic City or Las Vegas and have 5K going and with half of them comp'd.

Ward never fought outside of Cali until the last fight in Atlantic City, which is complete bull... It is one thing to call the shots if you are Manny or Mayweather but not when you are Andre Ward.

This is his own words
"I was disappointed," Ward said. "Bute and his promoter were screaming and yelling that I was ducking them, then they go and make a two-fight deal with Froch where if he loses, he takes Froch back to Canada? I didn't understand that. I was never ducking him, I just wanted to build up the fight. I was coming off two years of grueling fights and I felt he needed to fight someone. But ducking him? Come on. He wants belts, I have three belts over here if he wants to fight for a belt."

So he doesn't want Bute to fight anyone or build up the fight? Is Bute suppose to have his thumb up his ass while Ward is done with his break? There is nothing to build up... Bute and Ward are the two guys who are at the top. Showtime wanted that fight and Ward wussed out on it.

We are now going to see a fight with two guys who can't draw 2K worth of tickets fighting each other at some catchweight.

"Atlantic City just had a great turnout for Dawson-(Bernard) Hopkins and I believe we could get 19,000 at Oracle Arena," Goossen said. "So I am partial to Oakland."

I never really looked at it that way. Good point.

Ward as good as he is, really isn't a draw. He has the same problem as Martinez. Both have legit top 10 pound for pound statuses, but lack a passionate fan base. Bute however is a huge draw in Montreal. His crowds are always electric.

I guess in Ward's defense I would be weary fighting in another fighter's hometown. There's so much corruption with judges these days, especially when it comes to hometown decisions.

What would be the most neutral venue for both fighters? AC?

Atlantic City. the same place that suspended their own judges for the abomination that was the Williams vs Lara? Hopkins went to Quebec and got the UD. The natural place for that fight would be Canada but boxing does that to us... Being too logical will never happen.

Now that I mention the Williams/Lara fight

Here is another gem from Goosen.

"I would not have called it a robbery if the fight had been called a draw or if Erislandy Lara had been given a close decision victory. It was that type of fight. What I wanted to find out about was the lopsided scores of 117-to-111. You know what? The reporters and the guys at ringside are sitting there and they're talking to one another as the fight is going on.

"And, you know, that's pretty much what happens with [HBO's] on-air talent. So everyone kind of is the same page and they're going back and forth concerning what they're seeing."

"Here is the problem that I have with what happened that night that I didn't see or hear until I watched the replay. And that's how an announcing team can sit there and denigrate our sport to the levels that they did. They did it based upon what they believed that they were seeing. ... What I've got a problem with is them saying, 'This is why boxing is where it's at.' You don't like it? Get out."

Typical promoter ****...

Ward/Goosen and etc are just another example of what is wrong with boxing.

2 things:

Have you seen the crowd in Montreal? It's **** nuts. When Bute comes in to U2? You're at a huge disadvantage there. The place explodes.

The Bute vs Andrade fight was a complete God damn sham. The ref giving Lucien a 14 second count and letting him survive the 12th while out on his feet? Not since like Murder Inc ran Madison Square Gardens has a ref that clearly been paid-off. He was not going to let Lucien lose.

I understand Ward's disinterest.

The thing is, there are incompetent refs and judges everywhere. It's becoming way too prevalent these days. It's plaguing the sport. It seems like almost every other fight on HBO or Showtime has some kind of controversy when it comes to egregious scorecards, or incompetent refs changing the outcome of fights.

I'm not sure how the system works but the only solution I can think of is to hire reputable judges/refs from other states/countries. Judges and refs with good track records. I'm pretty sure that's something that could be settled during negotiations. It's not entirely unreasonable either.

That ref wasn't incompetent, he was actively trying to make sure the local fighter won teh fight.

I mean, NJ has had some bad judging, but it seems random. That guy who gave the fight to Kirkland just made a bad call. He'd previously been totally fair. Locals weren't favored. Unlike, say, Stuttgart or Munich where it's systematic: German fighters are going to win. Like Bute was going to beat Andrade.

Andre Berto has tested positive for nandrolone, which could put his rematch with Victor Ortiz on June 23rd in jeopardy.

That would explain why he has such a ridiculous physique in an aerobic sport. His musculature is insane.

And one last big payday. It's a good test for Canelo and a difficult match up for Paul Williams. Williams style leaves him vulnerable to big punches, and Canelo hits like a mule. Williams biggest problem is that he doesn't use his physical attributes to his advantage. He doesn't keep fighters at bay with his jab even though he has the length. He fight's like a guy that's much shorter than 6'2". This could get ugly.

Oh the irony. First Peterson and now Berto. The two guys that demanded drug testing are the ones being busted.
