Josh Smith Criticizes Atlanta Fans Again
Hopefully this is his last time having to wish that they would bow to the ground and please his big ego.
"Like I said before, I was a little jealous because the fans here are so supportive of their team. You go out, look in the stands there is nothing but Celtics jerseys. I don’t see a trace of red in there. Understanding that the fans are that passionate, it adds an extra advantage for them".
It is clear like I have said a million times he is too in love with Rondo and everything Rondo is telling him about the greener pastures that are ahead for him if he comes to Boston. Josh Smith was less than passionate about this series. He missed a game for no reason other than he did not want to leave it all out there for a franchise that he does not feel ever leaves it all out there. I hope this is the last time we have to listen to the whining of this glorified Lamar Odom clone.

Why should I go to Boston. I am a Hawks fan but I want players that want to be here unlike Josh Smith. He criticizes the fans but noone should criticize his poor decision making. After a loss in a game 6 game that was winnable he takes a shot at the fans instead of some of the bad play and shortcomings of the players.

Re: Josh Smith Criticizes Atlanta Fans Again
C'mon.
What he's saying is true. Opposing fans do invade Philips Arena. They chant MVP for opposing players.
They cheer the opposing teams. And they don't show up in droves during the regular season, even win the Hawks are winning.
Let's face it, outside of the small segment of hard core fans (like the one's here on the blog), most Atlanta fans, in all sports, suck.
Falcons lose a single regular season game, people stop coming.
Braves win their division every year, but can't sell out in the playoffs consistently.
I am against all forms of Josh Smith, but I can understand his frustration with ATL sports fans.
We were voted worst sports town in the country for a reason.

Re: Josh Smith Criticizes Atlanta Fans Again
Just setting up his exit. Wants all his fans to make him look like a tragic hero that was left with no choice but to leave and find a franchise more deserving
. It's funny because Joe said he doesn't care if the fans showed up, that they play for each other and he gets eviscerated in the media but for Josh "well he's right!"

Not sure if this one is aimed at me, but I'll take the response.
What we have to realize is that these guys are rich, famous, spoiled, uneducated....ATHLETES.
They're not particularly eloquent or wise or patient or well spoken.
And they get a microphone stuck in their faces at what are ultimately the LOWEST POINTS of their career.
It's not surprising that they speak the first thing on their mind without pause or thought to the repercussions.
I hate Josh Smith (as a basketball player) and heart JJ (as a basketball player).
But I put very little stock into what is said directly following a heartbreaking loss. Guys say stupid things when their hearts are broken. I know I'm guilty of it, too.
I'd never want some of the things I've said in anger to my kid/wife/friends recorded and repeated ad nauseam.
There's lots to criticize J-Smoove for, but this is on the lesser end.

I know this is not really for me, but I don't think there is a we in agreeing that these guys are uneducated or ignorant. There is definitely a we in these guys are spoiled and not really interested in taking responsibility for there actions

Re: Josh Smith Criticizes Atlanta Fans Again
Josh Smith explains the value of home court advantage "OMG HE IS CRITICIZING ATLANTA FANS!!!!!!!"
I'm sorry but does Boston not have a better crowd than Atlanta? I never heard him say that about Miami, because Miami fans suck.
I'm sorry this is dumb. I was clicking expecting him to be like "If our fans would show up we would have won!" or something along the lines of Joes "I don't care if they show up". The guy gives props to Bostons loud arena(which was freaking loud) and thats something to bash him over?
Alrighty then.

See, this is the exact flip flop mentality I'm describing. Joe says that fan support shouldn't affect performance, that the guys should just play regardless and gets railroaded. Josh says fan support affects performance and draws a direct comparison with his own home crowd to Boston and he should be applauded? What the hell do you think he means when he says "it's an extra advantage" and is describing no red shirts in the crowd?
Who woulda thought that apologists wouldn't be able to be consistent with their criticisms?

It's just business - now that it's time for his free agency, Smith is going to brag on every potential suitor.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.

Re: Josh Smith Criticizes Atlanta Fans Again
I'm a long time Atlanta fan and season ticket holder and I have no problem with what he said. As much as we cheered the Hawks in the series there was a lot of green in the stands. So much green that when the Celtics did something well you heard it. So much green that when an Atlanta player shot free throws he could hear noise trying to distract him.
We've not built the tradition to have the fan base that players would envy (Boston, NY, Chi, Lakers). We aren't the only game in town that makes fan base large and uniform (Portland, Sacramento, Memphis, OKC, San Antonio). Nor are we the hot ticket (Miami, Clippers, Minnesota pre-injuries).
You can read into his comments all you want. Until this team has true post-season success they will not have the unquestionable crowd advantage. It's just the facts.

So you are saying you truely don't understand the fundamental difference between saying "Their home crowd is great and gave them an advantange" vs "I could care less if the OUR fans showed up or not".
If not, then try this. Tell your wife that the food over at a friends house tasted great and his wife is a great cook. Then a week later tell your wife her food sucks. You will get two different reactions because you said two different things.
Its not a flip flop. Its how to say certain things and how not to say them.

How about the direct analogy of: tell your wife that your friends wife is the best cook there is and that's why he is so happy to the point you are jealous. Yea, seeing as those are the things he said in the interview but alas, apologize away.

The only way the Hawks would take any contract from the Pistons is if they take back Joe or Marvin along with Josh

Re: Josh Smith Criticizes Atlanta Fans Again
"Josh didn’t have much to say about his future, except to repeat “I’m under contract for one more year with the Hawks” and remind media that he could be fined for talking about the reports of his trade request. His trade request still stands for all the reasons I reported before the trade deadline. I’m told another factor that can be added to the list is his desire to play in what he believes to be a better basketball market. But I’m sure you might have inferred that from the way Josh (without prompting) contrasted Boston’s fans with Atlanta’s throughout the series".
According to MC Josh still on the same divisive bullchit. Dude needs to be traded end of story. Don't need his dramaqueen BS.

Once again, nothing has changed with this dude I could tell it in his body language he is here against his will. Please trade that dude on draft night for the best deal and be through with him.
