I'm pretty sure Iggy just went off the market, what with the series winning play and all. If nothing else, he certainly got a lot more expensive.

Agreed. Now there's no way they do it without someone like Williams included

If that's true, it just became an easier decision to pass on him.

That sounds like a political debate to me.
Anyway, no to Gasol. His contract is just too big to take on and he's on the wrong side of 30. I'd love to have him for a much smaller/shorter contract, though, as I really do like his skillset.

I don't think the series was enough to change Iggy's situation drastically. If they get punked out in round two he could be out the door again.
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

wolves could go after shannon brown or rudy fernandez. both are decent shooters with some playoff experience. both are decent defenders and in rudy's case he isnt that bad of a ball-handler.

This team desperately needs to add a shooter and a defender on the wing are easily the teams biggest needs. Webster can not be brought back for 5 mill, Millicic should be amnestied and Beasley non tendered. Their personalities bring down the team.
Gordon I would love to add but even including Williams Im not sure that S&T is happening.
I'd like to see them go after Landry Fields whom its looking like will be the odd man out between Lin, Smith, & Novak. NY can't bring them all back. Deshawn Stevenson would add a nice athletic hard nosed defender on the wing and good compliment to Fields.
Ersan Illyova would be a nice bigger shooter who could maybe be stolen from the Bucks for the right price. Could be a valuable 6th man type player with Rubio dishing him.
Steimsma would be a great compliment to Pekovic to add depth if he could be sniped from the C's. They may use their ML exception on him though.
Rubio/Ridnour/Barea
Fields/Stevenson
Williams/Johnson/#18
Love/Illysvova/Randolph
Pekovic/Steimsma
That would be a solid start to improving the secondary parts of the team that desperately need an injection of energy and talent. If they can package Williams/Johnson/#18 to get a quality Sf while adding Fields & Stevenson via FA I'd be all for it. Hard to say yet qwho will realistically be available on the trade block as of now.

illyova is too expensive for a backup PF and he is going to be paid by bucks. Fields is someone that wolves should target for small forward position. His stats dropped due to his shot form but every person in the league knows him. He would be awesome at 5 million. A starter that isn't undersized that could shoot 55% ts and score 12 points is exactly who they need.

Free agency is always a hot topic but you can't really talk about it properly until after the draft.
I am starting to come around to Wroten, I think he is a risk but one well worth taking.

Re: Adelman wants a "very aggressive" off season
What do people think of trading for Rudy Gay. Seems like Memphis fans or maybe it's the general board thinks he should be traded. He makes a ton of money but would gives us a big time scorer. Williams, Webster, and Darko. Gives them some flexibility to resign players and gives them a good young prospect. Still gives us some flexibility to sign guys in free agency, I believe. Try to sign Fernandez or Stevenson. Try to fill out the roster through the draft or trades. Rubio, Stevenson, Gay, Love, Pek is kind of nice.

I've seen a lot of Beasley in Gay in these playoffs in terms of shot selection, low FG%, etc.
I'd rather take a shot at slightly overpaying Batum over trading for Gay.

No.
Just like Iguodala, Gay's contract diminishes his value to the point that he's not worth Williams. It's bad enough that I'm not even sure that I'd give up Miller's and Webster's pseudo-expiring contracts for him.
I'd rather bet on Williams reaching Gay's not-so-lofty scoring heights (19 ppg in 37.3 mpg on .521 TS%).
Edit:
Speaking of Rudy Gay, I just looked up his stats over at basketball-reference.com and 2 things stuck out to me: 1) he seems to have plateaud; his per-36 stats and advanced stats have stayed pretty much the same from his 2nd season onward, and 2) his rookie season was remarkably similar to D-Will's, which gives me hope for Williams going forward.

But Gay is a prototypical SF while we can only hope that Williams will be able to transform into SF.

the player that I want most is impossible. Aaron Afflalo is the perfect player for this team but it will be virtually impossible to get him. He is the ideal player to get. Batum is a great fit too but will be too expensive unless sign + trade deal.

Pretty much. I could see them be interested in a Afflalo/Pekovic swap, but would we be?

Afflalo is my dream too. I remember before the season started I said Malcolm Lee could be like Afflalo, let's give Lee a chance to be our backup SG while getting a real stud for our starter,

I like a S&T for Batum for illiams and signing Fields & Stevenson is by far the best way to go. Williams would fit pretty well at the 4 next to Aldridge and Portland has the wings to be able to send a small for a big.
