That game is in the top 10 of live sporting events I've ever attended. I really think the building shook when Halpern got out of the penalty box from his double minor -- it was that loud. I have no doubt that the boys will show up with a great effort on Saturday night; I think the Rangers are tired and deflated and the Caps will get it done.

I was screaming like a mad mad at my house when we fought off the 4 minutes and Halpern left the box. I can only imagine how loud it was at Verizon Center.

Awesome that you got to be there.

Ugh. We played a really good 2nd period but were just plain unlucky.

There was a stretch for about 1min - 1:30min where it was basically a power play for us. We had the puck the whole time and it was nonstop shots from the point position.

Still only down one thanks to a quick goal in transition. Now we have the power play on a delayed game call against the Rangers.

Let's tie this shizznit up!!!

That might just be the worst power play (without being scored on) I've ever seen.

NBC Sports channel. It's ch.2 (ch.226 for HD) for me but I'm in Baltimore.

I concur Miller. It felt more like the Rangers were on a power play than we were. I'm tearing my hair out here.

Definitely the most incompetent power play I've ever seen.

Well, this definitely sucks but on the bright side, we found our goalie of the future in Holtby and established a new identity under Dale Hunter.

This team can make deep playoff runs. I'm confident of that.

We had a great run, we weren't projected to make-it this far.

Love Holtby. Not sold on Hunter for this team.

Grinding out one goal games may not be the way to go.

I think back a couple of years to the skill guys let go. ( Fleishman stands out). I always felt we were maybe a great two way center and another D man away from really competing for the cup.

Imagine the team of a couple years ago (the one that lost to Les Habs). Now imagine that team with, say, Brad Richards.

We could retool, hire someone like Milbury, let Kutznetsov (sp) arrive... And be, once again, spectacular on a nightly basis.

Good points but I will say one thing -- we were grinding out games against top competition and it nearly took us to the Conference Finals. Against mediocre regular season competition, this team (as currently constructed and directed) would have a far better record than what it earned this season. Heck, ever since we fired Bruce and replaced him with Hunter, our winning percentage took a big jump.

I think with an off-season of work and some minor retooling, you'll see a tough-as-balls defensive team with the caveat being that we have elite offensive talent in Ovie, Semin and Backstrom. That's a luxury most great defensive teams don't have.
