Shved signing official (Page 16)
Jonathan Givony @DraftExpress
No. Free agent for all 30 teams. There are some rumors that Minnesota might sign him. Not sure. RT @criteriado Was Shved drafted?
Always been a huge fan of Alexey Shved (see his DX profile: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Alexey-Shved-1097/) but he's not the same player he once was. What a talent.
CSKA are +19 with Alexey Shved on the floor. In 9 minutes.

Re: Rumor: Alexey Shved
I remember a few years ago that he was considered to be on a similar level as a prospect as Rubio, but then he just kind of disappeared. Could be a really good pickup if he's finally starting to figure things out.

Barea, Ridnour, Rubio, Shved, Lee
Bjelica, Rubio, Shved, Milicic, Pekovic, Barea, Prestes
A lot of Europeans struggle in their transition to the NBA. I'm pretty intrigued because of his size and because supposedly skilled in so many areas.
I'm finding conflicting reports on his height and weight on virtually every site I visit. Guess we'll have to find a picture of him next to Kirilenko for comparison.

I would think the Euroleague site is pretty reliable. They have him at 1.95m. Rubio is listed as 1.92m on his Euroleague profile. No weights though.

Shved is at least 6'6". A lot of Euroleague players are listed by barefoot height. Rubio's height listing was correct in shoes. But Shved's isn't. He's definitely taller than 1.95. No doubt about that at all.
But I don't think he's a good fit with Rubio. Shved needs the ball in his hands. He is definitely not an off the ball player. Everything he does is with the ball in hands and off the dribble.
He's a really explosive and athletic player though. I can see why the Wolves would want him. Because he is a really flashy player and would be another guy like Rubio that would make a lot of highlights and fit to their marketing style. But he's not a natural fit next to Rubio in that he needs the ball in hands to create his offense.
He's a really good finisher around the rim though.
CSKA's official website lists him at 6'6" (198) -
http://www.cskabasket.com/team/?a=playe ... 08&lang=en
I think he's at least that tall. Remember, many players in Euroleague are listed by barefoot height. Players from Russia, for example, that is typical. Russian players like Vorontsevich, Kirilenko, Khryapa, Shved - guys like that are all listed by the Euroleague at a barefoot height.
Just so you know, signing Shved will cost. Because CSKA can offer him the same as anything the Wolves offer, or more.

Shved isn't a prospect. He's a young player, but he is pretty polished and complete now. Plus, he's at his athletic peak. He just lacks a bit in experience. But he's definitely not a prospect. He's basically fully developed as a player.

BTW I'm pretty sure games are also streamed live on ESPN3. And that time is 1 central.

I get what you are saying. However, Adelman has traditionally played a 2 PG offense, and has gone into this offseason saying we need more ballhandling.

That and just because we sign him doesn't mean he starts. I think we have to take shots like this because its our best chance to bring in true talent.

I disagree with that. Signing an undrafted European isn't a likely source for a star player.

Shved is just young and inexperienced. But if you follow CSKA you can see that he is more talented than Kirilenko is. He actually has a huge potential as a one to one scorer. He is similar to Danilovic, and Danilovic was a pretty good NBA player.
Being un-drafted does not mean anything for European players. Most of the top European players are never drafted. The NBA targets projects with a perceived "upside" or "potential" when drafting European players. How good they are is almost a zero bearing.
Shved probably was not drafted due to the fact that the NBA scouts kept calling him a point guard. Therefore, he didn't look good in NBA way of thinking. As in a big guy that can't guard that position. In reality, Shved is a 6-6, maybe 6-7 shooting guard, that builds his whole game around one to one offense.
That's just how the NBA drafts always are with European players. A guy from Russia would have gotten extremely limited scouting from the NBA, since he wasn't playing then. This is really just the first time that he is a pertinent player for his team. He was never in games, so he never got scouted, especially considering that being in Russia and not playing for youth teams anymore due to his age. If he had played in NCAA he would have been a lotto pick probably. Just due to that he would have played, and would have gotten exposure.
I think you would be really surprised at how much scoring game and athletic ability Shved has. I don't know how good he will be, but he does remind of Sasha Danilovic. Sasha Danilovic was pretty solid when he came to the NBA, even after he had been dealing with some injury problems. You can look it up if you don't believe me.
http://www.nba.com/historical/playerfil ... _danilovic
Now, I am not saying he is as good as Danilovic was right now. Definitely not. I am just saying that he is a similar type of player and I think that he could potentially be similar to Danilovic, as he gains more playing experience. I think Shved has good potential if he gains more experience. I just don't think he fits great playing next to Rubio, because he needs the ball.

I believe it was his goal to be undrafted at the time. If Presti is also in pursuit, I think that's a good sign.

Sigh... Ibaka was a nice pick but can we end the Presti myth please.
