Curry got paid and got lazy, and stayed injured due to being too lazy to keep himself in shape.

Plus he was mentally dumb.

Comparing him to Amare just because of defense and rebounding is poor.

Okay I get that. Curry IS dumb and definitely lazy. I'm the last guy to defend him.

So, please tell me why Amar'e's defense and rebounding is so poor? Is he dumb or/and lazy? Or is it something else? To pay a player superstar money... you better hope he is a 2 way player.

Actually Amare has had good rebounding games, but they usually come when he scores points.

But he has never been taught those fundamentals, and has always relied on his athleticism to score.

Besides just because he gets paid doesn't mean he's gonna be a 2 way player.

He wasn't when he was signed and everyone knew it.

I've said it in previous years when remembering Curry's better days, but that guy when he was in the groove did have something few bigs with his power and size have which was unbelievable hand control around the rim. He was a real problem for defenders when he got into the low post and I really enjoyed his finishing skills which were elite. He could score with guys draped all over him and his hand coordination and body control was pretty amazing.

But, alas, that is about the sum of Curry's gifts. He was a one-way player, but he could have been one of the top offensive centers in the league and a solid 20 ppg scorer. He blew it.

I wasn't expecting a guy who gets blocked at the rim more than he dunks and tries to pass while jumping out of bounds along the baseline.

Dude, you're falling off your rocker. NY thought they "knew" they were getting one of the top scoring PFs in the league and other than half a season, they bought themselves a lemon so far. And you want to make lemonade. The Amare of half a season gave us some positive movement in the right direction and fans were grateful for that, but the player he has become at $100M doesn't support your weak defense of him. He's a crap player for what he is getting paid and if he is ever going to earn his paycheck, he's going to have to be many times better than he was this year. Stop apologizing for him. What are you, his press agent?

My memories of "good" Eddy Curry were usually him picking up 2 quick offensive fouls in the first quarter and then David Lee checking in. Oh, and that 3 pointer out of bounds play to win a game.

Both Curry and Amare hurt the team defensively, but Curry was literally anemic when it came to anything other points - see the infamous Eddy Curry line.

The worst part is amare is not only horrific defensively but his offensive game is trending down. Unless he has that jumper, he resorts only to running right into his defender. It makes me sad.

Can someone explain to me how a player like Zach Randolph, who can barely jump high enough to dunk averages more rebounds a game than Amare Stoudemire?

OR

How Dejuan Blair has about the same rebounding per 36 that Amare has?

please

explain this to me.

this is not hate but a facy the guy played 1/2 a year where he was great since then and when it has mattered he has not shown up. not only has he not shown up he has hurt the team by not playing defense or boxing out, forcing the ball and basically being an all around bad player.
For the money we are paying he should at least do the basics look at Elton Brand he atleast boxes out and rebounds and does not hurt his team.
Amare has a negative impact in the game when he is nto scoring crap he generally has a negative impact in the game when he scoring since he can scor 24 and give up 26 due to rebounding and poor defense.
Trade him for a PF that boxes out and rebounds looks to get about 14 points per game/ 8 rebounds and we are in a 7 game series with the heat

amare has always needed a PG to thrive, it didnt have 1 last year until lin came...but by that time, they didnt have any PT together to hammer down the P and R

and every1 knows how important a PG is to amare....that is nothing new

Amar'e still had some help. Not like he brought the Knicks back to a .500 team alone. Fields was Mr. Unexpected for he first half of the season, Raymond Felton helped a bunch as well, healthy Turiaff did some good too. Plus, previous players developed further.

Melo wanted NY, not Amare. He was willing to go to the Nets, remember? That's why we had to give up so much.

Nope, if he wanted NY only, the Nuggets could have just taken the better package and been done with it.
