For what its worth theres a much larger competitive scene for PC games than there are for consoles, nobody gives a **** about competitive console gaming anymore.

^This as well. Lans are huge for PC gaming also.

Building a good PC for gaming is pretty expensive. That's the reason why even Alienware hasn't taken off like Dell expected it to.

did you just make that your argument? honestly? we've already acknowledged that PC gaming is the minority due to cost of maintenance of high end systems compared to the relatively stable console market, so why would PC gaming save the PC market from falling off? PC gamers are generally more serious, aka not that 15 year olds playing COD on their 360s and angry birds on their ipads.

Just let XBOX or PS3 release a new console and you will not hear from another competition for another 2 years.

Its just been long enough that everyone has a console now and therefore the sales are not going to keep staying high.

and asus is faaaaaaaaaaar better than alienware. and you can get a nice asus gaming laptop for under 1k

IvyBridge might help PC gaming as well but I suspect it might drive cost a little higher than it is now.

all i've seen acknowledged in this thread is that pc gaming is superior to console gaming, which just isn't true. it's different, but it is not better. how can something that's in the minority be the superior? that logic is fatally flawed. and if pc gaming offered a gaming experience truly like no other then there would definitely be more pc users just for gaming and console gaming would be the one on the brink of extinction, i really don't know how you don't see that. you don't need a souped up pc to play grade a titles like diablo and others, they're just recommended if you want to bring the most of your gaming experience spec wise. maintenance coupled in with the fact that most pc titles are also being created for consoles along with the pc's lack of exclusive titles are reasons as to why pc gaming isn't superior.

the fact that successful pc games like minecraft and countless others have been made into ports for consoles to appease the public should be enough to show who's dominating the gaming world.

and i'm not knocking pc gaming at all, i'm attacking this notion that pc gaming has the clear jump over consoles as it pertains to gaming.
