until then, when your biggest change is a reluctant trade for a guy that the team only made to console Dwight - and who turns out to be the best player on the roster in the playoffs once Dwight goes down, then the team hasn't got any kind of credentials as to why someone should buy into their plan and philosophy.
Were it me (as in ownership) ... After I get a new GM, I would require to sign an extension before (continuing to) building around him.
No way I would my team through this whole fiasco again. For all we know we could make all kinds of change and he says "Thanks, I'd rather be in Brooklyn".
There's no guarantee that if we make considerable changes, he's definitely staying here.
This right here^^^
One of the best and most sensible posters on this forum IMO. (mhectorgato)
Show me the extension, I'll show you rebuilding.
Rebuilding is not a one year process at all, so for those of you who think Dwight should hold out until we "build a contender"...well he won't be under contract anymore by that point. And that is a huge gamble.
No one has a read on what Dwight is thinking. For all we know, like mhector said, we could just begin our rebuild around Dwight process, and then next season he just leaves for Brooklyn or Dallas. No commitment, you gotta go.

Ive believed all along theres somethin goin down and he knows hes stayin in Orlando it makes no sense to opt in and go another year of bein hated
2013 NBA Free Agents
Chris Paul, L.A. Clippers – $17.8 million – Unrestricted
Dwight Howard, Orlando Magic – $19.5 million – Unrestricted
Josh Smith, Atlanta Hawks – $13.2 million – Unrestricted
and guess who has cap room in 2013

Its not like Lopez is A.) "The Guy" and B.) he's about to get paid himself, so what does he solve? Bynum could be the guy, but his FA is coming up to so thats useless.
could this be GSW's master plan all along, taking the ultimate risk renting dwight by offering Bogut? Otis conspiracy I tell you.

I'll add something useful to this post. I was reading an article on about the Magic drafting Orton last year and nearly vomited when they said nearly every team in the league worked Orton out except for the Magic, and every team easily saw he had knee issues. Then they said we didn't even talk to Harper on the phone once, let alone work him out, and yet made a draft day deal for him. Can't wait for a FO shakeup. You'd think someone in the organization would have some balls and step up and demand these players be worked out, like one Stan Van Gundy, but I guess not. I don't want to blow our 19th pick because we're incompetent and not doing any work before the draft.

.........wtf?
This is elementary, anyone with any common sense would.........I give up. I just have to hope that either:
A.) The journalist who wrote that report is mistaken
or
B.) Big changes are coming.
Actually, I hope it's both.
