Yeah the problem is Sturridge isn't a right winger. I was at the QPR game on Sunday and Sturridge started on the left. Naturally he looks better on the left but he's at his best when he's running through the centre looking to score - sadly due to our success with the 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation and the presence of Drogba/Torres he's had limited opportunity.
Kalou almost starts by default though. He's still a really frustrating player to watch although I believe he did set up a goal at the weekend. He and Malouda were still the less effective players on the pitch though - the play was mainly through the middle and Sturridge on the left.
I'm certainly interested to see what happens this summer. I still think we really need someone like Hazard - but we also have De Bruyne coming in.
Again there's that and the only natural right footer we would have for the wing position would be Marin. With Drogba/Torres (really don't see Drogba leaving btw), Sturridge has to pick up his RW play and hopefully he begins to understand the position, he's only played in the PL for one year and all of the time out of his natural position, so let's hope he can pick it up next year.
Yes, I agree with Kalou, very frustrating player and I don't mind him leaving but we need the depth and if he stays the only reason he would get games ahead of Marin is because he's actually a very good at defending, which is why I would want Marin to hopefully be able to do that, they both like staying out wide and they both like to cut in and Marin is probably better at that aspect as well as a better shot/passer/crosser than Kalou. But RDM seems to really like Kalou for some reason and I think that's mainly because of his defending. And yes, he also set up Torres' first goal.
Really hope we push Hazard, I think we need him. De Bruyne isn't going to contribute any time soon. Yes he played in the Champions League, but going from the Belgian league to the PL is a huge jump, the ability is there but he's not ready yet.
