Spurs Players' 3+ Days Rest Stats

Post#1 » by Lifter » Mon May 14, 2012 5:03 am

Check them out on the Yahoo Sports player pages. Most of them areare well below their respective season averages, especially FG%. Gives me hope the Clips can steal home court and then pray for a miracle.

A long rest can do more harm than good at times. While a team is well-rested, they haven't played competitive basketball in awhile and may start off sluggish. I'd like our chances more if our guys weren't banged up.

San Antonio is a smart team with one of the games best coaches ever. While the series with the Grizzlies was physical, this one is going to be more mental. One thing that really concerns me is their shooters. They have Bonner, Jackson, Neal, Ginobili, Green, Mills, Leonard, etc. that can all bury it from deep. The scheduling will also have interest effect. The games are basically every other night with the exception of 2 days off in-between games 5 and 6 (if necessary) and the back-to-back home games we'll have next weekend. As if it wasn't already tough enough to begin with.

Its gonna be tough but I still think with what we overcome in the 1st round anything can happen.. I kinda like us being the underdogs with CP and BG to spark us.. :D

gonna be fun none the less!

I expect BG and DJ to have more contribution this series.

I expect 2 wins, but losing the series..... lol, they whooped us like a junior high team.

We need Foye to make plays he was one of our best guys during the regular season setting up the bigs for lobs based off the history and chemistry he has with them. Them Memphis series he did not look to create for other as much and it made the offense look slower than usual if he starts looking for the bigs on cuts and breaks it would do wonders.

^ Foye's basketball IQ is pretty bad. He makes the mostly weirdest turnovers i ever seen

He just made some weird plays, especially down the stretch in Game 6, not sure what was going on that night.

I wonder if Caron will still be playing significant minutes in this series. I'm all for Caron's grit, but against Memphis he played 27 MPG and averaged 9.3 PPG on 35.0% FG / 20% 3PT / .423 TS% and had a 6.3 PER. The team scored 83 points / 100 possessions while he was on the floor, and it's not like the defense was blossoming with him (108 points / 100 possessions). Bobby Simmons can give better production than that.

Leonard of the Spurs is not a one on one offensive guy, and as long as Young closes out well, it would be more beneficial to have more of Nick Young at SF to spread the floor with his shooting and create a little than to have that version of Caron. Of course, they do have Stephen Jackson off the bench, who's style of play is a little different, but more Nick Young, or maybe just less Caron might be a good thing based on the fact that he's injured and how he's produced so far

If L.A. can get running up and down the court and either getting the home crowd involved or silencing the fans in San Antonio with alley-oops and more spectacular plays, they will have an advantage. Blake Griffin can make or break this series with his dunking alone. If you out-run San Antonio's tired and rusty legs, they might collapse and have no where to go. I wouldn't be as worried if Tony Parker wasn't playing like he is Chris Paul. Tony can play the inside out game, bombing the paint and kicking it out to Jackson (who's been hot for San Antonio) leaving us in dust.

Duncan and Griffin will be intriguing. Both are on the opposite sides of the spectrum; fundamentals going against flash, and this won't be a good one for either Duncan or Blake. I have a gut feeling they'll both be playing "I'm Better Than You" on the court, trying to out-do each other. I have no idea how Duncan's going to be able to defend Blake when he spins around via post position change, and will Blake fall for Duncan's magic trick? You never know.

Vinny Del Negro is not a terrible coach, but Popovich is arguably top five, so that's an issue. Pop knows EXACTLY what he's doing with his squad. We have an idea, but Pop's got our asses scouted. Thing about Vinny is, his adjustments and rotations aren't good enough. Pop had the most unorthodox lineup I have ever seen this season, winning games with Danny Green starting at shooting guard. Vinny is going to have to set a gameplan and stick with it, adjusting it according to result, and keeping all of our guys well rested and fresh.

BG is not 100%, but even in limited minutes he should do well. If they double him he's a good passer. Unlike the last series this should be a shoot out. Parker and Manu need to be contained, so I think Bledsoe and Young should see a lot of time on them.

Nah.. remember that we really should have won the season series 2-1 vs the Spurs this year. We lost the one game with Gomes blowing the inbounds; a game we had locked up. Then we lost to them first week of the season when our defense was clueless and they shot like 60% against us. If we can get healthy, I think we can definitely make this a good close series. Hopefully the referees are competent as well.

I just read that there is a massive thunderstorm in San Antonio tonight. We all know Mo loves the rain...

I really hope Blakes knee improves quickly. Unlike other guys, knee injuries affect him more seeing as his whole game his based around athleticism.

Very hopeful a lot of rest will give him his leaping ability back.. although saying that, what was up with the 360 dunk before Game 7 lol.

i hope what happened to the Lakers does not happen to us. Both LA teams were off a similar scenario (tiring challenging Game Sevens!!) and both teams against contenders who are well rested.

At least no blowout please just build some confidence as we go along this series

Return to Los Angeles Clippers
