Surreal is the wrong word, but you don't get how it didn't make any sense for QPR to just give the ball back to City after the equalizing goal? It was their Ranger's kick-off, they could have tried to keep the ball for a minute or so, run the clock down a bit, but they just booted it to City's defenders and ran back to their 18 yard box.

Packing the box once City tookthe ball would make sense, but simply giving them the ball and inviting them on didn't. Say a boxer's getting pummeled in the corner and the ref issues a standing 8 count. Once the action re-starts, would you expect the boxer to simply back himself back into the corner and let his opponent resume the beating, or do his best to avoid the ropes even if he can't launch any offense of his own?

But they made no attempt to keep the ball for the entire game. It was stupid on hindsight, but they were just 1 minute away from pulling off what Chelsea did against Barca last month. (Although you could argue they did, considering they survived.)

I remember Drogba doing the exact same thing after Busquets (or Iniesta) scored. Maybe it was to keep the defensive structure, maybe it was just mental breakdown :dontkonw: Just gotta fully credit the winners in this case.

Well, we're looking at it in hindsight. I'm not sure which player it was, and I'm sure he's not bothered about it in the grand scheme of things because QPR stayed up. But in the context of this one game, if he had his time again I am sure he would have passed the ball back to Paddy Kenny or one of his centre-halves rather than do what he did, which was (I assume) either panic or consider that the game was over.

I'm not saying this to take anything away from Manchester City, who clearly deserved to win the league and were phenomenal to the final whistle yesterday, I'm just saying that watching QPR either let their guard down or hit the panic button after 92 minutes of heroics must have been tough for Man United fans who thought the improbable had happened.

Given a day to catch my breath, it would have been strange had Manchester United won the title. Generally, I'd say the better team over a 38 game season deserves to win it, but City were the best side, regardless of what happened in stoppage time yesterday.

Not sure if i was using my cynicism to protect me from pain, but i always feared a miracle comeback by city yesterday :(

Agreed. It's funny - I heard no end of commentators and pundits using the "best team always wins the league comment", both before and after the games, which has been true IMO, but I wonder what they would all have said had City not managed to get their goals yesterday. Would that 4 minutes really have meant that they weren't better than United over the course of the year if it finished 1-2 or 2-2? Not in my eyes (or any rational viewers eyes, I would have thought) but I wonder how many pundits would have been willing to acknowledge that this season was an exception to the rule, and how many would have tried to argue United as the better team.

The main difference comes down to us not having Vidic for close to an entire season. City went through some bad stretches when Kompany got injured. We still seemed impervious and opened up a 8 point lead without him for a long stretch since the Blakcburn defeat at home and that goes a long way to compliment the likes of Jonny Evans and Ferdinand being fit, consistent and formidable.

We missed that leadership and the guy that can cope when someone like Fellaini tries to bully you on the ball. I wonder if De Gea would have settled in quicker had there not been an entire procession of back 4s infront of him for 4 months.

Wigan haven't beaten us like in forever and Everton at home are our bunny teams and 5 points dropped there pretty much cost us the season.

Ruud has retired. One of the best strikers in the last decade.
