Andre Miller?

Post#1 » by BarneyGumble » Mon May 14, 2012 4:30 pm

Ive been an Andre fan since he was in college. Now he says he wants to start, or at least be a backup on a contender. I think he would be perfect...as he is pass first, an ironman, and competitive as hell. He also is a veteran which we need more of to balance the youth on the team.

Thoughts?

Keep Tinsley as the back up at 1/10th the price....... Miller is good, but he's not good enough to be a starter anymore, and will be too expensive as the backup......

I was thinking if a corresponding trade involving Harris were part of it. Obviously I would want Miller to be the starter.

How much more does Miller have in the tank?

Miller has been one of my favs from his college days as well. People have been saying that he doesn't have a lot in the tank the last few years and he continues to shine. I'd love to have him starting on the Jazz and dishing off to Favors and AJ in the post. We'd def need a good shooter to team up with him though if we got him.
Jazz_Man_86 on Favors:

"He is not Dwight Howard. He's max is 20 + 13 + 2 = is this a supers tats? No."

Dwight 2011-2012 - 20.6 Points - 14.5 Rebounds - 2.1 Blocks

I like Andre but if we don't get some more guys out there like Brandon Rush, or a Marco Belinelli, I don't see us really excelling with him as the PG.

In case you have all forgotten, Miller doesn't shoot the three. Unless he's here as a backup (not likely) I say no way.

Very under-rated player and actually borderline allstar ability and does it al except shoot 3s. He is a little old for my taste as he would be a stop gap measure until the Jazz get their PG of the future. If you cant get a Rondo or Lowery in a trade for Big Al (which I think you cant) then I would highly reccomend Miller who is a huge upgrade over Harris.

if he comes for cheap.... with harris he can play as a back-up or we can slide Harris to the two. without harris he can share pg duties with watson, burks, hayward and maybe tinsley

Not understanding the lack of Miller respect. He's much better as a facilitator and team leader than Harris. And who cares if he doesnt shoot 3s? There are other ways to win ball games. Besides, Hayward and Burks are the shooting guards, and if they dont step up their ability to shoot from distance, that still doesnt justify keeping Harris around.

Just my $0.02....

Who cares if he doesn't shoot 3's? I thought that has been declared that the team's biggest need this offseason is outside shooting. Besides bringing in a player you are admittedly a big fan of, what would such a move accomplish? Feels very much like a lateral move to me. Just because you respect him doesn't mean you need him on your team. Pass....

I used to not be a Andre Miller fan until I saw him play for 2 years in Portland. Now I have a huge respect for him and his game.

-He always comes prepared.

-He's one of the best passers out there and if you have any athletic big men, then it's lob city. Just ask JaVale McGee and LaMarcus Aldridge.

-He's never been very fast or quick, yet he uses deception and ball handling to fool his opponent. Miler has to be one of the most craftiness and deceptive player out there. Here's an example of something he does to fool an opponent and make them look stupid:

-He's durable as he's only missed like 4 games in 13 years and one of them was due to a suspension.

-Because he's so durable and doesn't need a lot of speed and quickness to be successful, he can play for a good 4 more years easily.

-He's very underrated and would be an upgrade to Devin Harris.

Did I mention he's crafty:

He can surprise you with athleticism sometimes:

-And he doesn't put up with crap or cheap shots:

Andre did get suspended for that which stopped I believed it was 732 strait games.

BTW, the fake timeout has been used a few times by Miller. Here's another one:

Maybe you missed the part where I said he's a better facilitator and team leader.
