And there is no way Jonas gets 10 FGAs.

11/12 season FGAs :

Bargnani 15.6
DeRozan 14.3
Barbosa 10.8
Calderon 9

Those are the leaders. Amir averages 5.3 in 24 minutes, Ed everages 5.08 in 23. I think at best... Jonas gets 7 attempts. Unless he really explodes, which is unlikely. I stay pessimistic, and think his rookie impact will be very small.

where u been..

just to add smth, do you consider the putbacks for off rebnds as touches (attempts)?? cause that doesnt mean they move the ball to him.. i dont want him to turn into another DeAndre Jordan with better FT shooting.. yes on D, but expecting more on O, definitely..

Why are you expecting more on O? If he's not getting the touches in euroleague, why do you think he'll get them in the NBA right away?

I fully expect Jonas to have an Amir Johnson type role on offense next year. Why would they make him an integral part of the offense, when he needs to focus on adjusting to NBA rules/ culture defensively? His most important contribution to this team next season will be on the defensive side of the floor.

If he shows he can do more offensively maybe Casey integrates him into the offense a little more late in the season, or the season after.

Jonas needs to earn his offensive touches, but primarily needs to focus on becoming an excellent NBA defender.

I have to agree with UcanUwill here.

He hasn't committed yet but I think he will - what's a better way to finish his national's teams career than playing in Olympics ? And yes he and Valanciunas should form a formidable duo.

P.S. Jonas is playing in 40 minutes !!!

European offense is shackled and tight so people should expect good player to get more touches in the NBA. For example Rubio averaged 9.4 FG attempts this season in the NBA, compared to only 5 FG attempts in the Euroleague.
However, Jonas is being way overrated around here IMO. It is really hard to tell how good he really is, but some of the expectations are overoptimistic. People who expects 14 ppg. right away, can set themselves up for disappointment already.

Close game, Zalgiris leads 47-44 at half. Jonas with 6 points (3/3 FG) and 2(?) rebounds.

Rytas lost to Zalgiris 84:90 Jonas with 12 pts (5/5fg)3 rebs 2 ass 1 blk in 25 min. Jonas shot in these series 5fg per game total of 12/15fg. If morons on team would have gave him ball maybe they could have won atleast a game.
Now Jonas gets rest until May 30th then National team camp starts.

Everyone gets quality looks on this team. Next season will be a different story but look at how many touches Aaron Gray got this year. Even with our rag tag group, the ball movement was pretty decent, it was our shot-making ability, by and large, that held back our offense this year.

Yes, there will be an adjustment period but Val is an efficient player that is going to get coaches in the flow of the offense. he's going to be our primary finisher at the rim and he's got a motor that will get a good amount of garbage points. his minutes will be limited by fouls and fatigue but I would be very surprised if he isn't productive and efficient in the minutes he does receive.

If Nash is on the team, Val is a good bet for rookie of the year.

I hadn't heard of this documentary in the making before, they've been filming for 3 years so far it seems. The Lithuanian National team sure do have a lot of belief that this team can really do something special at the Olympics.

Say what you will about Jose, but p'n'r is obviously his bread and butter, as it is Jonas'. This is not true of either Amir or Ed. So to the question, "Why would they make him an integral part of their offense?" the answer is that P'n'R is the most run play in the league, and I'll wager that almost instantly Jose/JV will be better at it than any other two guys on our team.

yes he will of course need to adjust to NBA culture and rules, but why this will mean his biggest impact is going to be defensive eludes me. I would think it suggests just the opposite actually.

Agreed, Amir can finish on the PnR as good as any player in the league. He just doesn't have the volume of big time players, hopefully that's where Jonas shines.

Bynum had 1.6 points 1.7 rebs and 0.5 blocks in his rokie season and ~8/6 in his second year, so i guess an all-star in the making if Jonas will have something like 10/8/2 lol
